They mean that hexbear emotes like joker-dancing and michael-laugh can't be used by people from other instances. So, if they could, they would use jesse-wtf

[-] miz@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

yeah I was just helping by adding the emoji they wanted

You know how sometimes you can't express your idea with words alone? They made pictures to help do some of the heavy lifting for you. We collected a big group of pictures out of memes, iconic moments in media, little drawings that show exaggerated emotions, etc. so that you could use them as a sort of emotional shorthand

it works the same way as an imbeded image, so you gotta type out the specific URL that points to where its stored on the Hexbear servers.

There's also a firefox addon that you can use to give yourself the hexbear emoji picker in the top bar of your browser.

I think I know where they are coming from. Before the latest round of genocide there were some efforts on the "left" of the zionist movement (which to be clear was about as left as US democrats) to justify illegal settlements by portraying them as wholesome consensus-based communes where kind peasant-farmers lived off the land in synergy with each other and the nature. Of course history was assumed to start at the settlement of the kibbutz and those weird brown people who claimed "they wanted their ancestral land back" were just authoritarian terrorists trying to destroy a free association of peaceful workers.

I think this mask has dropped off after October 7, so the claims from the OOP feel very out-of-context. But in reality this is just propaganda which was sitting stale for 3 years being resurrected now.
