I have a vegetable garden close to that size in my back yard. My wife and I get maybe 10 meals out of it a year. That's a hobby, not a farm.

Also, using triple the land you use for vegetables to raise what, maybe two cows?

I’m glad you mentioned it because I was gonna say… unless everyone is still working $50k+ / year jobs (or a millionaire with money to throw) this is unsustainable. Those farms are laughably small for self sufficiency. Also wtf tractors are you pretending to use on a field that’s barely as big as a kiddie pool??

I know it's possible to get shockingly close to growing enough to feed yourself on surprisingly small plots of land with very careful planning, management, and companion gardening, but something tells me the kind of person willing to dedicate a huge chunk of their "self-sufficient" compound to suburban lawns is not proficient enough to do something like that.
