on one hand yeah but on the other it's one of the most basic 'human consuming art' things in the world, to take a phrase or an idea from the art and bring it with you into your day-to-day. 'sweet summer child' presumably took off because it's immediately digestible even without the context of game of thrones, despite the literal meaning depending on that worlds fantasy elements

doesn't mean it can't be annoying or cringe to you but it should be expected

Yeah it is very normal for people to do it and it makes sense and all that. I find it annoying still, mainly because

  • Redditism
  • People insist it's not from GoT

It would be like if "may the odds be ever in your favor" became a thing people just said
