Unrelated, but does anyone remember the Falklands struggle session?
I do
What would be so important about that? Whether its England's or Argentina's?
It belongs to the dang penguins
Isn't part of the Falklands still heavily mined from the war? And the penguins / sheep get to live in those parts basically un-bothered because neither are heavy enough to trigger the mines, but any human who enters those areas gets turned to marinara? Or is it only the penguins who can't trigger the mines, and the sheep just occasionally get blown the fuck up.
the only right answer
More, does an opposition to British colonialism (and the fact the Spanish empire claimed it first, sort of, maybe) overcome the self determination of the people living there, who took it from no one and have been there for centuries (and who want to stay with Britain.)?
My take is the Falklands should be forcibly made an independent state, fuck you Argentina and the UK.
Making an island nation into an independent republic? You'll find no arguments from me ma'am. In full seriousness I support this the most for many issues.
Beautifully succinctly put. The strugglesession was wild, so many people just refusing to accept the validity of the others argument, and just soapboxing instead.
Oh man you would have loved the "Are the Irish colonizers of Ireland?" struggle session on the r/Deprogram discord.
Wait wait wait give me the briefest summary of that one you can, please.
Does it amount to “8000 years ago there were pre-Celtics living there”?
Pretty much yeah. I don't remember it was really stupid lol. Basically they tried to equate inter-European feudal wars and political shakeups/migration with modern settler colonialism all to call Irish people colonizers of Ireland among other inane debatebro type stuff.
Sounds like typical Britoid whataboutism!
My god, how did that come about?
God that was one of the worst arguments I've ever seen here. I avoided openly commenting as best as possible
