I think that's just a liberal thing tho. My coworker is 2nd generation migrant from Turkey and when Erdogan was reelected last time, she went around saying "what will europe and the europeans think of us, that we're some kind of backwards inbreds?". I tried to tell her, that white europeans already think that anyway, and changing a conservative leader for a progressive one isn't going to change that, but I got kind of shouted down by the other people at our office (who were all white)

You can thank an entire century's worth of propaganda for that one. Every group in the United States that has asked for a better or more equitable society has been accused of being secretly communist / marxist / socialist / russian / chinese (those are all interchangable for Americans). And since neoliberalism has made the discussion of actual economic policy haram, people are left to only discuss the social policies (also due to the whitewashing that the State has successfully managed to pull off with regards to historical radicals).
I think the resident MMT-guy on here probably needs to take a little break, on account of his predictions that Kamala and the Dems would overperform the polls (as a lot of the republican donors had been switching to the Dems) and that Trump would lose.
Tbf, it's pretty funny that their idea of an own is to put Kamala into what is basically purgatory.
Might actually be true, given that the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964 in july, and LBJ went on to win a massive landslide victory over Goldwater in 1964's november elections. The sheer margins that LBJ won with might also be why the republicans then went on to cater massively to the South to pry them away from the Democrats, since Southern democrats apparently make hating black people their highest political priority.
For added context, the LBJ to Humphrey dropoff came off the back of the Civil Rights Act, which permanently lost the democrats the South. So Biden to Harris is almost as big of a drop in support as the passing of the Civil Rights Act, except the Dems haven't even fucking done anything this time.
Also LMAO that the largest drop in support for the dems was the one time they did something good post 1945. Truly a satanic country y'all have there.
Surely the furthest from a McDonalds have to be in either Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon, right? Like there's so many McDonalds' in America that you'd have to go to a national park to find someplace that didn't have one.
He wasnt. It was someone from the Faroese Social Democrats, Danmarksdemokraterne, SF, and a guy who I couldn't recognize but then learned was either Venstre or Moderaterne. But I did google them and they were all members of parliament and AFAIK none of them were in government (the people, not the parties).
Oh it's not just the journalist / vermin. I was on a flight with a couple of politicians and overheard their discussions at the gate. They were all talking about the horrors of Gaza, while also saying that Israel had killed 18.000 HAMAS members (back when the casualty count was believably around 40.000). These weren't junior MPs either, but party bigshots from some of the non-junta parties.
Somehow propaganda doesn't happen here and Danish State Media is totally trustworthy, anyway time to interview the correspondant in Tel Aviv, who is mysteriously allowed to continue broadcasting.
He also got suspended from his university for being too racist to chinese people during the Hong Kong riots in 2019, which is quite a feat in Australia.
