We can only hope it ruins his presidency, along with about a dozen others. I don't care what political party they're in.
His supporters will defend it somehow. Probably.
Nobody cares about his cult anymore. They will go down with the ship, and the world will be a better place without them. His supporters aren't part of the question. I don't mean conservatives who voted for the Republican candidate, I mean the actual cultists who have all his merch, pray to him, etc.

If it does ruin his presidency, that just puts Peter Thiel's creature into the Oval Office.

Trump is the only one in the whole shit show that has gained any kind of personal following. There is nobody waiting in the wings and Vance is fucking kryptonite for MAGA because it is obvious he is a tryhard sycophant and they only love belligerent strongmen.
Vance will be much worse in some ways given that he's a full believer in the Yarvinist neomonarchist cult with Thiel, Andreeson, etc., and he's somewhat more competent than trump (which is a low bar).
However, like you said, I think his time will be limited because he can't control the idiot MAGAs like trump can. But the MAGA propaganda machine (Fox, Newsmax, OANN, TPUSA, etc.) will spin up around him and can probably suck in a decent amount of the MAGA cult. So all this to say... we'll see lol
