Reminds me of an apocryphal story I saw years ago in a comment on some blog, which was meant to demonstrate the absurdity of sectarianism in Northern Ireland and which I think also demonstrates something else.

A foreign journalist driving alone in Belfast was stopped by some scary looking militia guys. One of them leaned into the car and asked "Protestant or Catholic?" the journalist replied, truthfully, "Atheist". The militia guy's next question was "Protestant atheist or Catholic atheist?"
