No, I think Americans call it ding dong ditch - it's the one where you knock on a door then run away before they can open it. When I was young we could only play soccer if John's older brother let us use his football, so we often had to find activities that needed even fewer materials than that.
Ahh yeah we call that nick-knocking. I remember a drive time duo did a skit of competitive three-step nick-knocking (you have three steps to try and hide) bit naff but mostly in good fun https://youtu.be/uyRrInqg-R0
