I used to really like Fantano. I still agree with most of his music takes, even though I don't really explore much music most of the time when I hear about something he says I agree with it. He's got good politics AFAIK. But I just kinda don't like his vibe anymore, he's a little too annoying even for me. I'm glad he's around, though, I think a lot of other people in that kind of position where they review a lot of punk/otherwise radical music tend to be more liberal.
as much as I find fantano specifically annoying I just don't think longform talky video is a great format for dealing with music seriously in an interesting way. I'd rather just....listen to the music. the finnerty style "muso dissects bad music" approach is a lot more palatable and even informative at times
heyo finnerty is my fav music youtuber for sure. like at least make it funny right? if you’re gonna talk for half an hour about music 😫
I like long form meta-music talky videos like Todd in the Shadows or Trash Theory but then I'm a dork whose always been more interested in history than music.
Have you watched sideways? They fell off the map a few years ago, but their videos are top notch music slop.
Speaking of music creators, I really don't like Adam Neely's vibe. Nothing against the guy, he just rubs me the wrong way.
It’s that Berklee smug.
