Republican President Donald Trump said on Sunday he was not joking about seeking a third presidential term, which is barred by the U.S. Constitution, but that it was too early to think about doing so.

Trump, who took office on January 20 for his second, non-consecutive White House term, has made vague allusions to seeking a third one but addressed it directly on Sunday in a telephone interview with NBC News.

"No, I'm not joking. I’m not joking," Trump said, but "it is far too early to think about it."

"There are, there are methods which you could do it, as you know," he said. He declined to elaborate on any specific methods.

What? I've heard him talk from a few years ago, he stumbles over his words occasionally, but Biden's debate performance was not a speech impediment. He was lost, easily distracted, and spoke like he wasn't all there. And the fact that it comes and goes (he seemed fine just a few days later) suggests this is a mental issue, not a life-long thing. I agree with you though, Biden is still better than Trump (I am about as far from being a Trump supporter as one can possibly be and still be on the same political spectrum), and his cabinet was far better, but pretending that it's not a problem is part of why it was a problem.

Also you are cordially invited to fuck all the way off with that 'keep his name out of your mouth' shit. I'm here to have adult discussions about our situation and how we got into it, if you can't handle that then you're welcome to go sit at the kids' table.

Did you see the entire 4 year presidency so you can compare it to the current one or did you just see the debate bro? You realize he was on TV talking every day for 4 years and fox news captured all the speech blunders. It was not that many.

Did you see anything but the debate bro? be honest? Did you say Genocide Joe and Vote Jill Stien and hand the election to trump? Pretending like biden was a bad president is an opinion reserved for Fox news enjoyers. Biden was not the problem you were. The low information voter. The voter that shows up last minute and sorts through a couple narratives and sends it. Or are you the voter that splits the party in the most important election of our life time. Which one are you bro? You don't sound like you need to be discussing politics, you need to be studying it.

Sorry, is it suddenly a problem that I judge a candidate by the campaign they run like literally everyone else?

I only bring up the debate because while there had been gaffes and brain-farts before, this was the most he's spoken at one time in a while and it was real fuckin' bad, man, and anyone with eyes could see it. I dunno if it was a new problem or an old problem getting worse, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess it's the second one since his staff has already spoken out about his issues. I'm not saying Biden was a bad president (certainly not compared to either Trump term so far), and he at least had a competent administration around him. I'm saying he was a bad candidate and should not have run again. You know, like he said he wouldn't.

I look forward to not expecting your vote against trumps 3rd term. Be sure to keep criticizing the dems in the past and not focusing on the authoritarian coup underway!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

You can look forward to not having any idea how I vote because I don't discuss that. Also I definitely will, thanks. Maybe one day you too will be a grown-ass adult who is capable of criticizing multiple things at the same time. Won't that be fun!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

eh I just spend the whole biden admin watching press releases, speeches and fighting with republicans about his dementia. Turns out it was total hypocrisy and like bidens age, not an issue with trump.

I really don't care who you voted for if you are still spending time talking about bidens debate blunders, I know which candidate you helped get elected. Your words did more than your vote here.

Maybe you should think about the criticism and the timing. Because it was poorly timed in 2024 and completely irrelevant now. We all want younger sharper candidates. having biden step down should have happened in 2022 and not 2024. That was a mistake.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Trump is also experiencing mental decline, no doubt. It's just not as sharp a decline as Biden's, nor has it progressed as far. I'm definitely talking about both though. I didn't want either of those creaky old space cadets running anything more important than a fucking bake sale.

And no it isn't particularly relevant, but I wasn't the one who brought it up, the person I was replying to originally did. Don't give a fuck about the timing though, as previously mentioned I am capable of criticizing multiple things at the same time. I do agree that Biden should've stepped down in '22 tho, or, worst case, just not run in '24.

Fair, sorry i've just been seeing that opinion pop up in too many posts. I never had to worry about anything during the biden administration. I was embarrassed by 3-4 gaffes and nothing he did remotely came close to threatening Canada and Europe. Which trump is doing in pre-dementia. If biden was so incompetent in his final years in office, I failed to notice it. I always saw a strong competent leader who was doing his best for the country. I saw half america spitting on him as he helped them with real problems in their life. It's just a bad look to be trashing biden with trump doing a hitler/putin dictator speedrun. You're allowed to have multiple opinions just don't respect the opinion that biden was unable to lead the country. We ended the 4 year term in strong footing and its all been destoryed in 20 days because Kamalas laugh was on Tic Tok more than her policy. I hate it here.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Fair enough. I try to have more nuanced opinions than 'both sides bad', but.. :P

You're right though, I'm sweating a lot more in this administration with their attacks on social security (I'm on disability), shitting on our allies, going after our neighbors, etc etc. I had no illusions, I knew another Trump term would be worse by far than another Biden term. Mostly my argument about Biden's mental decline isn't that I don't want a dementia patient running the country because apparently that's not a choice we get to make, but rather that a lot of people weren't going to vote for him based on those issues and especially after the debate.

You do make a fair point though about trashing Biden (which really wasn't my intent anyway) while Trump and his pals are doing their best Sieg Heil impression, I need to be more aware of that perception and make sure I'm more clear about it when I do cause I don't want anyone to get the impression that I think Trump is better in literally any way whatsoever.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 hours ago

Yea I dealt with my trump voting buddy for 3 years while he sent me shit about Biden starting WW3.

Trumps like balls deep in WW3 now and my buddy refuses to discuss it. Like bro i spend 3 years calming your fears and watching biden so you didn't have too. And now your guy starts WW3 and you're not even gonna tell me its gonna be okay!?!?!?

We both trade stocks so same thing with the market "hey bud the market may never recover from Trump and you may lose all your money and have to go back to work"

He does not care.

So part of my both sides shit is just frustration from having republican friends who are both sides bad until trumps in office and then its like. See no evil hear no evil, quit over reacting lib....

Also i've studied history and presidents. In 30-40 years from now we will be discussing the biden presidency in a very postive light. He looks like an actual genius inbetween two trump terms. I'm tired of hearing about him, tired of having to defend him. He did the best he could with the America we have. Can't say that about trump.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Why are you guys talking about the debate performance? Is that the only time you watched Biden speak? I watch press briefings 24/7. Biden spoke just fine when he was talking to europe. He spoke fine when he talked to the american people.

But ya he couldnt keep up with trump lying his ass off, go figure. AT 10 PM at night. Sure ya bro go off. you guys are totally spitting. Nothing about policy or government just all debate vibes "dId YoU sEe ThE dEbAtE bRo?"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As his staff has said he has good days and bad, which is pretty common with dementia-related illnesses.

Have you ever been around someone with dementia? Have you ever watched them slowly fade away until they can't even remember their own family members? I have. I remember those 'maybe they're not all there' days, and it was almost worse that they were interspersed with days where they seemed lively and all together and on top of the world, because you know it won't last, because those days will get fewer and further between until they just don't come at all.

Would you elect my grandmother who thinks she's still living under the Hoover administration? I wouldn't.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes I lost my grandma to dementia, so I'm a bit offended at you confusing a speach impediment and old age with actual dementia.

I must have clinical dementia too at 35 from smoking to much weed. I forget shit all the time from some light ADD.

Anyway, reality called. You got Dementia Don as president. He's half as lucid and 3 times as dangerous, and he's sorrounded by incompetent Yes-men.

I'm done arguing with you. Bidens corpse would be a better president than Trump. Just down vote me and leave me alone.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. Mine isn't gone yet, but it won't be long.

But I wouldn't vote for your grandmother either.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Nah i'm fine with capping office at 70-75. I think we also need to be more open and blunt when people have served enough. There needs to be succession plans and not just sit in seat and die.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, that sounds good to me. Although honestly I think more term limits can only improve things. Maybe just 1 term for everything max.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 hours ago

Think about AOC first term, very popular with her base. She got a lot of media attention because republicans hated her. Young hot smart and totally lefty. Couple terms in congress and she is reformed a bit in messaging. She understands procedure better, and she's eligible for important roles in comittees. In this time she's gained my support as a centrist.

I think this is what the party needs to be doing more. We bring in fresh blood, we help them grow as politicians and we don't strangle their visions and constituents because we don't agree with them. Let the people decide. But it takes time for AOC to gain my favor. It's a trust thing, her words and her action, following her over 4-8 years makes you feel better about sending them back for 4 more.

After 20 years ya curb em, but some of the best politicians and policies are worth fostering and need leadership that can last multiple political cycles.
