I don't know how upset I should be because I'm not sure if this can actually play out. I'm actually unsure what the health and labour rules are here. I'm looking into getting a doctor's note and talking to lawyers friends. I'm just fuming upset now. Why the fuck do you care that I mask?

Optics and aesthetics would be my guess?

The public really doesn’t like being reminded of public health risks that could be easily mitigated.

Many liberals also know on some level that the pandemic which killed millions and is still active was not mitigated by 'their good guys' at all, and they aren't fond of being reminded of that uncomfortable truth

So rather than confront it, they bury it

It also reminds people that they were too weak willed to keep masking during the height of the pandemic let alone now. Subconscious "what you think you're better than me?" Type shit
