A strange godlike being who traveled from the delta quadrant to test the mercy of humanity brings the Tuvix flower with him and spreads it aboard the enterprise. Most of them are vacuumed up by ensigns but one makes it into the teleporter when Scotty and Spock are transporting. Creating Scock. The rest of the episode is about convincing this new live form to call himself Spotty

There is actually a post that episode of tng where Scotty comes back from the pattern buffer series of books thst are about the starfleet engineering corps that he establishes and each book is a bunch if short stories of engineering experts being called into different things. The stories are hit or miss but they're fun.

It's been a long time, but I devoured that series! It's not high art but in terms of Star Trek slop it was grade A.
