This is about the common republican whataboutism, and clarifying that no political party is above scrutiny.
I read his comment as also being addressed to the Republicans in the back: a concurrence, not a rebuttal.
So many people online take replies as contradictions when they're meant to be support. It's frustrating.
Let's not get this twisted, there are likely zero Republicans on lemmy, and if there are, they can only be counted on one hand.
