So what you're saying is, if there new federal government says to round up the Hispanics, Muslims, gays and trans people and put them in camps, States should comply, because there shouldn't be exceptions?

Why not, in this reality we live in? Not in the ideal make-believe reality, in the current reality. Why shouldn't we aim for it, especially when it comes to this, knowing that all three branches of the federal government are going to go a particular way? Even if it sets a bad precedence, screw it. Save lives now, rather than chase an ideal.

Tell that to the states that have legalized recreational marijuana, while marijuana is still a federally Class 1 controlled substance

So what's your solution? Or should we just shrug and start reporting each other for "leftist behavior" to the secret police?

Unfortunately it still is the 18th century in some places in America, and women are afraid of their own lives if their husbands found out who they voted for.

If there's one solace, it's that "AI" is so broad a category that the Pentagon can just point at something like computer assisted target acquisition and go "done".

Cool, you first. Go ahead. When the Trump Gestapo start marching down the steer in broad daylight, go out and riot. We'll be right behind you.

Which country? You're gonna have to be a bit more specific.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah, how was that working out for you until they started turning up the heat? How was "when they go low, we go high" doing, in terms of actual election results?

The United States Military and the US Strategic Forces stand ready to fulfill our oaths to the Constitution. The Strategic Forces, in particular, stand ready to launch upon the receipt of a valid and authentic order to do so. And those of us who still take our oaths seriously stand ready to respond with whatever force is necessary to stop those traitors within our ranks who would defy or threaten the Constitution, in accordance with all rules and regulations set forth. Hooyah.

I personally like baresearch.org and SearXNG.site and switch hqcobajd forth if either gets temporarily suspended for making too many requests. I also saw a tutorial on YT on how to set up your own instance if you're not on mobile. I do highly recommend still using ublacklist alongside SearXNG, since that helps block all the SEO spam and listicles.

Have you tried uBlacklist and SearXNG?

Google researchers have come out with a new paper that warns that generative AI is ruining vast swaths of the internet with fake content — which is painfully ironic because Google has been hard at work pushing the same technology to its enormous user base.

Back in the 90s, Jeff Bezos went on record as hoping his employees would wake up on the wrong side of the bed—for the greater good, or for the customer at the very least.

It’s almost laughable that these two stories happened so close to one another. The Australian government has just announced a pilot program to test an online age verification system

And then, just hours later, it was reported that law enforcement is investigating an apparent breach of club and bar patrons’ personal data, which the venues are required to collect by law for people entering such establishments.

When we talk about the privacy and data risks of age verification, this is exactly the kind of thing we’re talking about. When you’re collecting that much sensitive private data, you become a target.

When Spotify announced its largest-ever round of layoffs in December, CEO Daniel Ek hailed a new age of efficiency at the streaming giant. But four months on, it seems he and his executives weren’t prepared for how tough filling in for 1,500 axed workers would be.

The music streamer enjoyed record quarterly profits of €168 million ($179 million) in the first three months of 2024, enjoying double-digit revenue growth to €3.6 billion ($3.8 billion) in the process.

However, the company failed to hit its guidance on profitability and monthly active user growth.
