And from another angle showing the tail:

It’s the Nuke Matrix Mad Wolf kit and turned out to be way more involved than I had planned. I didn’t realize when I got it, but it’s actually 2 kits. The thread pic is the battle version and this is the other figure (cloak in this pic was taken from something else):

Some parts of the kit were well designed, but there were a few key things that ended up being a giant pain in the ass. I also have a bunch of waterslide decals to add but I’ll do that some other time and maybe add some panel lining also.

Source, which has other fun stuff: https://lyra.horse/

EDIT: I guess hosting it on hexbear messes it up so I replaced it with a direct link.

EDIT 2: THIS IS SUPER COOL: https://lyra.horse/antonymph/

Complaining about LGBT people at a renaissance fair is on par with complaining that Star Trek is "too woke" or that Rage Against the Machine is "too political".

“Stalin” in this picture looks like a guy who’d be hosting a Spanish language variety show

The discussion we really need to have is whether or not it’s appropriate to bring your own beans to a pride parade and just eat them straight out the can without even heating them up.

I'm half awake from a nap and typed "Yuri" into the search bar not thinking 😑

Death to the Catholic Church, unironically. This is just one more peanut in the massive turd of horrors that the Catholic Church has unleashed on humanity throughout its dark history.

Sort of related, but anyone else notice that people want things to be normal so badly that you can say all kinds of crazy shit and people will just ignore it? Like you can make jokes at work or with family about Stalin and sending people to gulags and they'll just be like, "Oh that pooh is so zany."

Sounds like some nonsense pete-eat would come up with

That post what-the-hell

Are they just being purposefully ignorant about what Cuba and Vietnam have been doing?

I was browsing a thread this morning on the topic of Hexbear and a lot of them seems genuinely cool and have a pro-federate-with-hexbear stance. There's definitely some reactionaries over there, but there appear to be some cool folks as well.

EDIT: To add to this, I think we should absolutely target reactionaries anywhere (of course), but we SHOULD NOT let it turn into a war against other whole lemmy instances. There are cool people on most of these instances, and we should support them in their struggle to cleanse nazi filth from their own corner of the lemmyverse.

PPB stands for "Pig Poop Balls". It's a picture of a pig with poop on its balls. It's an old joke from reddit days and was typically posted in response to reactionaries who wandered into the subreddit to cause trouble.

Also, welcome! quokka-smile

China didn't seem very "totalitarian" when I was there, unless the definition of "totalitarian" includes friendly people and cute pandas. The police there are rarely seen (mostly in areas with large crowds), don't even carry guns, and have a helpful and polite attitude, unlike US cops who use their position as an excuse to bully people. Also Winnie the Pooh merchandise is 100% legal there (I have photos if you don't believe me), people can freely talk about politics and complain about the government without being taken away by secret police, and ethnic and religious minorities appear to be able to display their religion and culture freely. There IS ethnic discrimination to be clear (at least from what I've read and was told), which deserves to be criticized, but western countries really have no ground to stand on in this regard. They do have things like more cameras in public, but this is also not something unique to China (the UK is an example). It's also likely that the government has access to certain commonly used apps, like WeChat, but again this isn't really any different from western countries including the US, where the government simply buys your personal data from third parties without your knowledge. Overall, I'd say I felt the government in was China LESS threatening than the US (especially US police), but this is based on a limited window of being there for 3 weeks as a foreigner, so take it with a grain of salt.

Would I be wrong to say this is straight up McCarthyism? This is clearly a witch-hunt against left communities for being left and no other reason. I still have not seen any evidence to justify the kind of negative treatment this community has received from some of the other lemmy instances.
