There is no tools right now that allow that to happen

but the database dump is tagged in this post which would allow for people to make those tools 🙏

Canvas happens in 336 hours! (or 2 weeks, take your pick)

CountdownMatrix SpaceDiscordMastodon Announcements

At the end of the event, i’ll be selling prints of the Canvas to help fund the project 🎉 (and i’ll also be selling last year’s prints, but this year only 👀)

details for the sale have not been announced (the post will get pinned in [email protected] & posted on the mastodon account)

I am also planning to sell various instance’s logos as vinyl stickers, with the profits going towards those instances

If you are an instance admin and want to join in on that, send me a message on Matrix (@grant:aftermath.gg), send me an email ([email protected]) or send me a message on Discord (grahhnt), whatever works best for you

(or send this post to your favorite instance that you want to get a sticker from (and support them))

Instances joining the sticker sale:

  • lemmy.world
  • mastodon.world
  • toot.community
  • blahaj.zone / lemmy.blahaj.zone

Edit: rephrased the image

Canvas in roughly a month 👀 (canvas.fediverse.events)
submitted 11 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

July 12th, 2024 @ midnight EDT

https://canvas.fediverse.events

✨ this year’s event also supports the entire fediverse not just Lemmy!

(you have to be able to make/receive text posts, like mastodon, lemmy, pixelfed, etc) (peertube accounts will not work)

you can get update announcements on other fedi platforms with @[email protected] link

chat about Canvas on Matrix or Discord (they’re bridged)

turns out I did my math wrong, so it’s a little less than 30 days

always wondered this, but kept forgetting to post it

eg users would be on @[email protected] and a community would be on @[email protected] or something like that

then it would still follow the AP spec but still allow for identical identifiers (like a user account being @[email protected] and a community also being [[email protected]](/c/[email protected]))

It appears that proton's is only for them and they don't offer it to other websites unfortunately

basically what the title says

the ones i'm aware of:

  • google's recaptcha
  • ~~cloudflare's~~ hcaptcha

cloudflare being better for privacy compared to google, but still not great afaik

i love content warning on steam and noticed the in-game youtube clone can be used directly in a domain, and i immediately thought of peertube

this peertube instance is intended for the game clips that are generated in-game such as this one

i'd love to add a steam login feature to expand but we'll see lol

enjoy

oh also here's the game on steam

not limiting it to the ones that get recommended, i just want to know the ones that i should definitely test with to ensure they work :)

Not entirely sure how that would work, but it would be a cool idea anyhow

Maybe a hook into Peertube or Owncast? although hooking into those might be out of scope for a Lemmy client idk

Edit: RPAN was Reddit's short-lived livestreaming experiment, which ended up being killed due to the cost of running a service like that.

How i envision it working within Mlem is that it would display an in-app embed (or native support) for videos hosted via PeerTube or Owncast in the feed (possibly taking up the native resolution / aspect ratio)

To improve discoverability, mlem would (theoretically) recommend communities that are tagged (probably via a #tag in the description) or something like that

The decoys story I believe got animated by Qxir on YouTube

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

If I remember correctly, apple also made it so iPad apps automatically work on the Vision Pro unless if the dev explicitly disables it, which is also a plus

[-] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Video hosting is a very expensive process and peertube does a lot more stuff to video files compared to Lemmy/mastodon

I’m not sure if this would be feasible for development or peertube hosts but idk, it would be a neat idea though

[-] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Seems like a good small coding project if you’re up to that

[-] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Like the others are saying, if more people are planning on participating we won't need a smaller canvas

Getting instances on board was initially very hard, but thanks to some community members posting it on other communities we were able to get this big

More info in another comment

To answer some of these:

  1. That sounds like a neat idea, try searching through Pxls's github issues to see if it's already suggested or not
  2. That already exists actually! Shift + Click (or hold down on mobile) on a pixel to get who placed it :)
  3. Pxls runs a permanent canvas already for year-round fun at pxls.space

It looks really good! When I saw it on my feed my first response was “oh shoot someone beat me” 😂
