Video hosting is a very expensive process and peertube does a lot more stuff to video files compared to Lemmy/mastodon
I’m not sure if this would be feasible for development or peertube hosts but idk, it would be a neat idea though

Unpopular opinion, but video support is one of the largest hurdles to broader fediverse adoption. Every significant social media platform (including messaging) supports video and animated images. It's become part of the basic functionality.
I know that there are big technical challenges of storage and delivery, but until it's solved there will be a low ceiling on the fediverse.
Not unpopular, it's the truth. Just who is going to pay for hosting?
Yeah, definitely not unpopular, just the reality of digital media storage and delivery
It's an explicit goal of ActivityPub, but mastodon implemented its own bespoke API instead of the ActivityPub Client to Server (C2S) API. Apps got developed for mastodon using its API and other services implemented the masto API instead of C2S to get app support.
And anytime you bring up C2S to current projects, they brush it off. So it seems like the grand idea of the fediverse is way far off and not likely to happen soon.
Agree, C2S seems so cool, a shame nobody implemented it, at least I don't know any software that did
An instance admin can enable login to PeerTube via specific Mastodon instance. This is all we have.
A community to talk about the Fediverse and all it's related services using ActivityPub (Mastodon, Lemmy, KBin, etc).
