Her parents are like high ranking members, she was born into it. So either shes still in the church, which sucks but is more defensible than someone choosing it for themselves, or as evidenced by her queer lifestyle and song lyrics, shes left the church but doesnt want to completely burn bridges with all her former friends and family or possibly put them at risk by speaking out publicly.

Lower decks is awesome. I went in expecting it to suck, but its not only very funny, its also clever and engaging and faithful to star trek. I was super impressed and now i kinda wanna rewatch it again.

I mean good. He obviously had enough vision and creativity to get it this far, so if he doesnt want it to be watered down im happy to have less of an awesome thing than way too much mediocre shit which is what lots of other shows are right now. If theres other writers that have good stories to tell then i hope they get a chance to make those into something great too.

The lib cat owners i know treat their cats like accessories and wonder why their cat sometimes hisses or bites them. The actual leftist cat owners just live and vibe with their cats, and usually get along better with other people's cats than they do too.

Maybe try a Bluetooth fm transmitter? I have one because my car is too old for bluetooth and also doesnt have aux, but its great and snappy and i just have to reach down to the cigarette lighter to switch songs.

This is such a bad faith comment. Im not a hexbear user but my instance is federated with them and ive interacted with lots of their posts. Go into any post on hexbear and youll see tons of examples of them disagreeing WITH EACHOTHER. they commonly have huge arguments in the comments and as long as everyone is civil and not arguing in bad faith noone gets banned and noone gets urt feelings. Stop lying and using hexbear as the lemmy boogeyman because its a bad look.

People dont 'get immunity' to seasonal viruses, thats why theres constantly updated flu shot every year. Not enough people get the shot, kncluding me sometimes, but with the flu its mostly just a mild irritation for a few days with minimal lasting effects. Still, less people would get it if everyone would mask up and get vaccinated, as we saw during covid when barely anyone got the flu due to wearing masks. This isnt a complicated social problem, masks protect people from germs of all kinds, and the more people wearing them, especially when theyre feeling sick, the better off the rest of the population will be. Especially since covid can have such lasting effects.

I mean its kind of nonsense because ive never and will never paid a convenience fee, mostly making me download an app is inconvenient enough to get me to not use a given service. But also because the only downside to taking out the 'physical manifestations' of these bullshit hypercapitalist scams would be a better world for all of us.

Have you not heard of a router? Sure i have an internet connection but i wouldnt have to. Lots of people have subnetworks that are isolated from outside network access, and my router would still be able to stream from my computer to my laptop even if my internet was down or i unplugged the modem. The last time they did scheduled maintenance on my internet thats exactly what i did, i streamed things that i had previously downloaded and saved on a different computer.

Someone already mentioned tapas in Spain but i wanted to elaborate. I spent the most time in granada but it was also the case in other cities, but in some places you go into a bar and order a half pint (for like 2 euros, about the same as a bottle of water in the convenience stores there) and they bring you a little plate od food. For your second drink, the food is different, better and more filling. For your third, fourth and fifth, sixth, whatever drink, the food keeps getting better. You could go sit down in the afternoob and walk out a few hours later with a full stomach and a nice buzz, it was great.

Literally if my "ai based adblocker" could block ads originating from another server, why wouldnt it be able to block hundreds of gigabytes of javascript? Why would i even let that download in the first place?

So in this episode they go into a cave, and can read some sort of energy field, as well as Troi having a sense that there are lifeforms present. Geordie explains that the people must be displaced in time, but only by a few milliseconds. If that's true, how is there not overlap? Say the people are a few milliseconds ahead of the enterprise when they arrive, shouldn't they appear a few milliseconds later, as they still would have had to be 'present' during that time? I don't understand how they would be consistently invisible if time is a dimension like space that can be traveled through. Some past (or future) version of them would be present regardless of the desynchronization would they not?

Please if anyone could help me understand or shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.
