What goes up must come down.... watch in the tech bro future we will be bailing out social media companies just like the airlines. Always making a good thing bad.

On a Saturday afternoon last August in Colorado, Polly Voss was a passenger in a car headed northbound on Interstate 25. She was planning to spend the weekend in Wyoming with friends. But for the registered nurse, things were about to change quickly and dramatically.

She noticed two cars speeding in the I-25 express lane, brake-checking each other at high speed and "inches apart" said Voss.

"It was really 10 out of 10 intensity level. I'm thinking a gun is coming out next ... this is escalating so I started recording," she told CBS Colorado.

Her video shot on her phone shows the driver of one of the cars swerving suddenly to the right out of the express lane, nearly hitting a passing Jeep, which was driven by a 17-year-old named Katie Bush. The video shows Bush trying to avoid a collision but losing control of her car, crossing back across the interstate and rolling into the median.

The Jeep ended up on its side.

"It's terrifying how quickly things can escalate out of rage and anger," said Voss, who stopped to provide medical care to the driver of the Jeep.

Voss' video, shared with CBS Colorado, would apparently lead the Colorado State Patrol to the drivers of the two "road raging" cars and an unsettling discovery; one of the drivers was an off-duty police officer. The CSP says Jack Ross, an officer with the Keenesburg Police Department, was behind the wheel of his personal car in the incident on I-25. He has been charged with reckless driving and failure to report an accident or return to the scene -- both misdemeanors. Through his attorneys, Ross declined to comment.

In their report, the Colorado State Patrol said Ross, 33, had been "tailgating another vehicle" and was "actively road raging" with the other car. The report says Ross "fled the scene." When troopers tracked him down and talked to him, they said Ross "stated that he didn't see a crash but when we spoke to his wife during the investigation separately stated that she saw that a vehicle had crashed and when she mentioned to (her husband) that she hoped the person was okay ... (Ross) stated it wasn't their fault."

Polly Voss said, "I've always been taught that police officers were there to serve and protect. This couldn't have been more opposite of that."

Voss said that when she approached the overturned Jeep to help the driver, she was "terrified" at what she would find.

"I'm thinking the person in the white Jeep is probably dead."

Remarkably, the teenager was uninjured.

"I couldn't believe it," said Voss. "It felt like a miracle. It felt like there were angels looking over us."

And there would be another unexpected twist -- Katie Bush's father is also in law enforcement. Jeff Bush has worn a law enforcement badge for 23 years, but he has no tolerance for the conduct of his fellow officer.

"It was completely unacceptable behavior by both motorists that day," said Jeff Bush. "In law enforcement we have a higher standard set upon us both in our professional and in our personal lives. To see that kind of behavior from an off-duty officer and the lack of care and compassion to leave the scene after causing an accident was really frustrating..." said Bush. "In my gut, I don't believe he was unaware he caused an accident."

Bush says Ross should have called 911 and should have stopped and rendered aid to Bush's daughter.

"It just might be time for him (Ross) to pursue another career," suggested Bush.

Officer Ross' employment record was recently highlighted in a CBS Colorado investigation of "second chance cops" who move from agency to agency after blemishes on their work records.

"I understand," said Bush, "that the smaller agencies have a hard time finding quality candidates but there's got to be a line somewhere with the hiring standards, even in the smaller agencies."

Keenesburg Police Chief James Jensen said he was aware of the crash and criminal charges against Ross when he hired him in 2025. But Jensen defended the hiring, saying Ross is a good officer and is a good fit in the Keenesburg community.

Ross is due in Larimer County Court next week to face charges stemming from the I-25 case. There are indications that a plea deal may be in the works. Jeff Bush says while it's difficult to speak out against a fellow officer, he is adamantly opposed to a plea deal for Ross.

"He needs to face the music on this one," said Bush.

"India should convey its deep concern and displeasure that you [the US] brought maritime warfare to our doorstep," Former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Arun Prakash (Retd) told India Today TV. The sinking of the Iranian warship "shows the Iran-US-Israel war has come to our doorstep", he said.

So, the choice of location of the US strike on IRIS Dena was to avoid any diplomatic tussle with India.

American forces torpedoed Iranian warship IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean, near Sri Lanka. It was returning from Visakhapatnam after a multilateral naval exercise. The sinking of an Iranian ship in India's strategic waters but outside its maritime jurisdiction is significant. This is our analysis of the situation.

The US-Israeli war on Iran has triggered turbulence in the Indian Ocean, waters that are strategic for India. An American submarine torpedoed and sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena in international waters in the Indian Ocean, off the southern coast of Sri Lanka. This was the first sinking of an enemy ship by torpedo by the US since World War II. The incident occurred as the frigate, a small warship, was returning from joint naval exercises in India. This comes even as Pakistan signalled that it could get drawn into the Iran conflict due to the defence pact with Saudi Arabia. These developments raise questions about stability in the Indian subcontinent and the wider South Asian waters.

The IRIS Dena, a frigate-class warship, participated in the Milan International Fleet Review in the Bay of Bengal from February 18 to 25, where it was welcomed by the Indian Navy. It was returning from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and was targeted in international waters.

Reports suggest that 80 aboard the IRIS Dena might have been killed in the American attack. The Sri Lankan Navy has rescued approximately 30 sailors from the IRIS Dena so far, with the survivors being brought to Karapitiya Hospital in the southern port city of Galle for medical attention.

Operations continue in hopes of finding more people, with air force support aiding the search. The response aligns with Sri Lanka's duties under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which mandates that states provide assistance to vessels in distress at sea, regardless of nationality.

It is the closest Indians have felt the Iran war close to home. Israel and the US launched airstrikes on Iran on February 28, taking out its top-tier leadership, including Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Iran has been firing drones and missiles since then at countries that hosted American bases and even those that didn't, turning the entire Middle East into a conflict zone. INDICATIONS OF HEAVY PRESENCE OF US NAVY IN INDIAN OCEAN

This strike on IRIS Dena, carried out by a US submarine, indicates the heavy presence of American naval assets in the Indian Ocean, an area where the US Navy operates more submarines than in many other regions. The attack involved a torpedo.

Torpedo attacks break a warship's keel – which explains why rescuers found no vessel upon arrival.

The primary US naval formation responsible for much of the western and central Indian Ocean, including the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and parts of the broader Indian Ocean, is the Fifth Fleet, which is headquartered in Bahrain.

The Fifth Fleet typically operates 15 to 35 major warships at any given time, including elements of a Carrier Strike Group (CSG) when deployed, surface combatants like destroyers and cruisers, logistics ships, and often 1-2 nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs).

The US Navy has long emphasised undersea superiority, with Virginia-class and Los Angeles-class SSNs frequently rotating through the Indian Ocean region for missions such as intelligence gathering, deterrence, and strike capabilities.

The strike could mean that the United States Indo-Pacific Command (PACOM) is now involved in the Iran war.

The sinking of the Iranian vessel also intersects with the Indo-Pacific strategic architecture. India and the US are partners through the Quad grouping, alongside Japan and Australia.

The Quad has consistently emphasised a "free and open Indo-Pacific", maritime stability, and respect for international law. HOW STRIKE ON IRIS DENA BY US IS SIGNIFICANT FOR INDIA

Debates are already on over how this impacts India, as it unfolded in New Delhi's sphere of influence – right in India's backyard.

Geopolitics and international relations analyst Zorawar Daulet Singh said in a post on X, "Iranian missiles have pushed the US navy close to Indian waters. This is precisely one of the scenarios for which the US signed the LEMOA (logistics agreement) with India. But the repercussions for India to be even an inadvertent war party in an aggressive & unprovoked intervention by the US would be dangerous. This is the time for the Indian government to act independently and intelligently to safeguard Indian interests."

The Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement, inked in 2016, allows the US and India to access each other's military facilities for refuelling, repairs, and supplies. It was designed to enhance interoperability during joint operations or crises, such as countering threats in the Indo-Pacific. In this case, the proximity of US submarines to Indian waters could suggest reliance on such pacts for rapid deployment and sustainment.

National security expert Nitin A Gokhale saw the sinking of the IRIS Dena in international waters close to India as a further escalation of the Iran crisis.

"Escalation has now spread to the Indian Ocean and nearer India. Iranian ship Iris Dena, returning from Exercise Milan and the International Fleet Review at Visakhapatnam, almost certainly torpedoed off the coast of Sri Lanka, near Galle, several reports indicate. Hundreds missing. Almost certainly a US sub attack. Now, was the submarine part of to CENTCOM or Indo-PACOM?" posted Gokhale on X.

The sinking of IRIS Dena by the US in the Indian Ocean somehow brings India into the discussions on the conflict. India ties with Iran were civilisational. Energy security and the Chabahar port were part of the relationship.

Congress leader Pawan Khera, in a post on X, said, "Today, an Iranian naval vessel - returning from the Milan 2026 International Fleet Review, where it had been invited by India - was sunk by a U.S. submarine at the edge of Indian waters near Sri Lanka. Does India have no influence left in its own neighbourhood? Or has that space also been quietly ceded to Washington and Tel Aviv?"

According to a Reuters report, the confirmation of the American role in the sinking of the Iranian warship by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth came amid ongoing investigations, with Sri Lankan forces prioritising humanitarian aid.

US CHOSE WATERS CLOSE TO INDIA BUT OUTSIDE ITS JURISDICTION

Ultimately, one has to remember that though the strike on IRIS Dena was in India's strategic waters, it wasn't in its jurisdiction but in international waters.

Xpost

Had the warship circumnavigated Sri Lanka and reached Kochi, it would have moved along Indian waters in its maritime territory up to Gujarat, for further journey towards Iran. There couldn't have been any strike then, because that would have made it a diplomatic issue between India and the US.

Experts are suggesting that Indian Ocean doesn't mean India's ocean.

"While this is bad news and a reaction is imperative, must remember that the Indian Ocean not equal to Indian territory. The ship was on a visit to an Indian port but that was before the war began. Sooner or later, It was bound to be targeted by the enemy like any warship would be," wrote columnist and satirist Kamlesh Singh on X.

So, the choice of location of the US strike on IRIS Dena was to avoid any diplomatic tussle with India. SRI LANKAN NAVY RESCUED IRANIAN SAILORS

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath told parliament that around 180 people were aboard the ship when it sent out a distress signal. The Sri Lankan Navy launched a rescue operation, recovering bodies from the sea and spotting an oil slick at the site, but no trace of the vessel itself, reported news agency Reuters.

Commander Buddhika Sampath, a navy spokesman, said the incident happened outside Sri Lankan waters, yet Colombo remained committed to assisting under international obligations. No other ships or aircraft were observed in the area, he added, emphasising that the focus was on saving lives before investigating the cause.

The Sri Lankan Navy followed the UNCLOS code, which was adopted in 1982 to promote maritime safety and requires coastal nations to coordinate rescue efforts in their search and rescue regions.

Retired Indian Navy officer and defence commentator Abhijit Singh explained in a post on X why no country could have given safe harbour to the IRIS Dena. He highlighted the issue of "neutrality in wartime".

"The vessel had left Vizag well before hostilities began, but must have known it would be hunted by US submarines in the IOR. Its crew likely understood that regional states could not offer harbour without appearing to take sides - an act forbidden for neutrals in war," remarked Singh.

The significance is also in the rarity of a warship being torpedoed and sunk by submarines. This is the fourth such case, and the first involving the US, since World War 2.

"Only 4 warships sunk by submarines in the last 80 years since WW2. That's how rare the sinking of the IRIS Dena is," said defence expert and senior journalist Sandeep Unnithan. SINKING OF IRAN SHIP COMES AMID PAKISTAN'S SIGNALLING

The sinking of the Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean came even as reports emerged of Pakistan signalling that it could get involved in the Iran conflictdue to the defence pact with Saudi Arabia.

Pakistani foreign minister Ishaq Dar said he warned his Iranian counterpart against raining missiles or drones on Saudi Arabia, according to a report in The Financial Times.

Though Pakistan is just paying lip service, Dar's remarks, along with the IRIS Dena's sinking, point to a grave situation where the fire from the Middle East could spread eastwards.

So, the US torpedoing of the Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean is significant because of the rarity of the strike and also that it has taken place so close to India at a time the crisis is seen to be escalating. However, it has to be remembered that the attack, which has taken place in India's strategic waters, is outside its maritime jurisdiction.

Anastasia Jehorek GOFUNDME

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX) — A 17-year-old girl riding an electric scooter was killed Friday afternoon in a crash in Orange Township in Delaware County, and the driver accused of hitting her was arraigned in court Monday.

Family identified the girl as Anastasia Jehorek of Lewiston. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said she was on an electric scooter in the side safety lane on State Route 750 when a vehicle driven by Aviv Bukobza left its lane and struck her, killing her. Troopers said evidence on the roadway showed he left his lane, including tire scuff marks from both vehicles. Bukobza faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and leaving a marked lane. In court Monday morning, he pleaded not guilty.

Anthony Bowling, Jehorek’s uncle, attended the arraignment and described his niece as someone who “always had a smile.”

“When she was a baby, all the way up until just recently, she always had a smile. And I think she brought a lot of light to people's lives, and that's just a light that's no longer with us,” Bowling said.

Bowling said he came to court to support his family.

“I just wanted to come up and be there for Anastasia,” he said.

Bond was set at $10,000. Bowling said he believes the bond amount is too low, raising concerns about possible distraction.

“It's not enough, especially if something contributed, like him being on a cell phone,” Bowling said.

Highway patrol said impairment is not suspected, and it is unknown whether Bukobza was on his phone or otherwise distracted. Troopers said a phone was seized from Bukobza and will be analyzed to determine whether it was used at the time of the crash.

Bowling said the court process can bring justice, but won’t bring his niece back.

“It will never bring closure because Anastasia's life is gone,” he said.

“He'll have his life after the end of his sentence, whatever that may be,” he added.

Bowling said the family is trying to focus on healing.

“With this right here, you know, we're reminded that life is not guaranteed from one day to the next,” Bowling said. “And just in a split second, life can be taken from us. So we should cherish our family members and our friends, and always tell them how much you care for them.”

Highway patrol described Bukobza as an Israeli national in the United States on a work visa and said investigators were still working to determine how long he had been in the country and how long he intended to stay.

A prosecutor argued in court that Bukobza was a flight risk, while Bukobza said his family would not let him return until the country is no longer at war.

Bukobza was represented by an attorney who did not give a statement. An interpreter was present during the court proceedings.

What's actually sad about this is Trump made it about him, but they were going to do this parade anyways, which means the failures are our military and our government. Because you know, those Russian and Chinese parades are pretty fucking insane. Like you might not be for the military doing their little elephant march but you gotta admit especially the Chinese they do that shit in style... the pageantry is on point.
