If Trump is an existential threat to democracy and minority groups, maybe betting on stopping him through procedure amidst the courts he himself rigged is a stupid and short sighted plan.

The thing is, Dems know if they put up a remorseless, possibly effective fight it would change the character of the party, and probably amp up some violence from Trump supporters, and they themselves are too afraid of being the ones to actively stoke any anger from the other side head first. Even when the sole choices are either they back down, Trump wins and there's permanent state violence, or they stand tall, beat back Trump's advancement and there's short-term random violence from his supporters, they will always go with the option that is most passive because that is their fixed and immovable disposition.

I don't care about him per se but when I further twitter's general reputation as a shithole it might make it seem that much more risky to advertisers

it's a good way to make Elon's twitter look bad to more people

Not the libs, surprisingly, they aren't quiet or performatively doing praise because it runs too countercurrent to what they have been saying about Trump this entire time. There was even an AmITheAsshole post on Reddit asking, "AITAH if I don't really care what happened?"

It's not like that police sniper or that Sandmann kid where they rush to condemn the left or whatever to show they're decent. Not sure if this means the party will reconfigure their strategy into one that allows their supporters to openly continue attacking Trump the way that the GOP claims is incitement, or if Joe, last seen lucid in 2016, will think telling the world to be nicer to Trump is the appropriate way to go.

Not just kindness but also greater ruthlessness toward the unkind

Also can someone with a reddit account repost this name scrubbed version to r/murderedbywords

Yep, we should correct anyone who adds a bunch of mealy mouthed qualifiers out of a sense of obligation

I know exactly this type of guy, he loves stopping you and trying to add nuance when you suggest any voters might just be stupid. He also loves pointing out new problems Democrats have with reaching out to voters and expect to be rewarded with nods by the people listening to him, while never ever taking a stab at making a concrete messaging plan of his own.
