I'm not saying it's new. "Cursed internet word" was a possibly stupid way to say its use, on the internet, often causes problems, like arguments.

"Individualism" is one of the cursed internet words which will have a different meaning for every person who uses it. Discussions about it tell you more about the community having the discussion than anything about the word. And it can cause arguments when interpretations differ within a single discussion.

The contrast you see between opinions about the word is just a reflection of the general contrast between liberals and leftists.

Here's the trick that works for me

Develop anger issues

Learn to manage them as well as you can

Harbor intense feelings of unresolved anger towards just... Generally everything going wrong.

Bottle all that shit up inside. It's best for this stage to have as little autonomy and self determination as possible, so there is a lot of internal pressure built

Whenever you feel anything, simply wash it away with a quick dose of released anger, like a power washer taking paint off the side of a house

Keep doing that for years

???

Eventually you're fine!

I'm definitely fine and doing ok.

There might be some parts where it is finite but from where I live it looks infinite

it's extremely easy to know if you define "flower" phylogenetically, so "flower" refers to the related descendents of the ancestor of all flowers.

It's plausible somewhere else out there is an organism evolved to be very similar to flowers, but they wouldn't be flowers the same way a thylacine isn't a type of wolf.

Meet Blanquita: a rare beautiful animal

How to handle crime in fair ways in different stages of AES is a good discussion to have, but this doesn't feel like an attempt to have that conversation. "Lick those fuckin boots" seems kinda over the top.

It is so extremely variable. I have met old ladies that would die instantly and dissolve into dust if they heard someone "use the lords name in vain" ("God damn"), but until they speak I can't tell them apart from the old ladies that habitually curse with every breath they take.

Reading this the unfamiliarity with friend's partner + new parent feelings of protectiveness would be what I would guess are more important than just how much time has passed. Like, a rusty support can't hold as much weight as a new one, but maybe this is just too much weight? If I was your friend I might have answered that way just to make sure my parter is comfortable and to avoid forcing an interaction with someone they don't know well.

I would try a different angle, just try to find a way to generally socialize, and in particular try to start to get to know the mom more. Just build a little familiarity and it should be way easier to navigate socially.

I am frequently wrong tho so of course take my advice with a grain of salt

intentionally ignorant

I hate how they are trying so hard to make trump out to be the "default" win that can only be stopped by active votes for biden, obviously there is worse shit going on but this "strategy" they are all collectively doing to try and guilt people into voting biden is making me lose it. They've been hammering it home so hard and completely twisted their perspective they no longer see any moral ground anywhere that isn't simping for biden. And they have obviously worked themselves up like this so they can place blame at the feet of anyone but biden if trump wins. The shitstorm of rage directed ENTIRELY at third partys and non voters if trump wins is going to be ridiculous, as though there wasn't 50% of americans that directly plan on voting for the fucker.

Voting third party is not support for trump in any way

Not voting is not support for trump in any way.

Voting for someone who doesn't win is not a "wasted" vote

No voting strategy, including reacting to the spoiler effect, implies a moral choice.

If a vote is a choice no one is obligated to vote at all, no matter how mad that makes libs

I just need to keep repeating that stuff to myself for my sanity...
