One of my favorite court transcripts is Sheppard v. Speir.

The Court:  All right.   Now, do you have some objection to him being renamed Samuel Charles?

Sheppard:  Yes.

The Court:  Why? You think it's better for his name to be Weather'by Dot Com Chanel-

Sheppard:  Well, the-

The Court:  Just a minute for the record.

Sheppard:  Sorry.

The Court:  Chanel Fourcast, spelled F-o-u-r-c-a-s-t?   And in response to that question, I want you to think about what he's going to be-what his life is going to be like when he enters the first grade and has to fill out all [the] paperwork where you fill out-this little kid fills out his last name and his first name and his middle name, okay?   So I just want-if your answer to that is yes, you think his name is better today than it would be with Samuel Charles, as his father would like to name him and why.   Go ahead.

Sheppard:  Yes, I think it's better this way.

No, what an utterly ridiculous lie to spread. She would never get "Korean bbq" tattooed on her hand, she's a multimillionaire with tons of resources at her disposal to prevent a silly mistake like that. Instead, she got "small charcoal grill" instead of "seven rings". But don't worry, she got it fixed apparently, so it instead correctly read ... "small charcoal finger grill".

The orangutan is the smartest primate.

I'm inclined to agree after reading this.

This is why "divide by half" and "divide in half" are two different things

$200,000 in overtime to clear Hamilton Hall at Columbia. The article also points out that the George Floyd protests cost over $150M in overtime and over $30M in lawsuits.

Saved you a click

Why is the publication date June 2024?

The solution to cars isn't greener cars. It's replacing cars with something else completely, like human powered vehicles or multi-passenger transport. /c/fuck_cars has the right idea

Or puzzles that are completely esoteric or unintuitive. Just replayed some of the Myst games, and it's like "oh ok I was stuck on this for 30min because the lever was on the other side of the map and there was literally no indication that it was related". That's just artificially inflating your game's difficulty, and it's lazy puzzle making. Boooo
