FIRMS is very accurate, use it for wildfires all the time - you can filter over time too so stuff more than 24h old shows different colors..it's a great way to understand how they're growing and spreading. In my experience it's spot on. Neat to see it used for this application, great use case

Funny thing is there are no minerals. There's a shitload of oil but the whole eleventeen trillion dollars worth of minerals thing only exists as an excuse to promote the US war efforts.. They did the same shit in Afghanistan, they do dogshit science to claim vast treasure troves of resources DURING the war to try and justify more military spending and shit. If there were so many rare earth's why aren't there already productive mines pulling them out the ground?
