"There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people."

-Commander William Adama, Battlestar Galactica (2004)

A lot of comments here are displaying their ignorance of nuclear technology.

Keep eating up the oil company talking points, I guess. "hey guys remember those nuclear meltdowns from outdated reactors that had all kinds of things going wrong because of poor design and decision making, most of which is no longer an issue? Yeah things blow up so better keep chugging away at those fossil fuels while we sabotage any investments into renewables"

I mean goddamn, the "worst" disaster in the USA was a big nothing burger that was sensationalized by newspapers that knew how to sell a headline, and oil companies that knew how to leverage any sort of negative press to their advantage.

When the fallout from nuclear disasters doesn't come close to the amount of radiation out off by burning and refining fossil fuels, there is no argument.

Good thing it wasn't a Tesla, then "the man" would be doxxed by mainstream media outlets, he'd be tried as a terrorist, and the cops would have been deep into investigations before the sun came up.

Not "I should stop using this website since it's not showing me what I want"

It's "this website should be shut down for not showing me what I want"

Typical conservative/authoritarian.

Can't let places that allow wrongthink to exist. The ministry of truth needs to sort this out.

"No, I prefer to donate money directly, and if your company really cared about the cause then they would just donate without asking the customers to foot the bill"

Of course, the 9/10 times the cashier agrees and is only asking because their supervisor could be within earshot and decide to reprimand them for not asking.

Corvids evolved beyond the need for physical form.

All that remains are echoes.

Personally this doesn't feel like true theyknew material, because this is one of those "this is how they had to advertise because nobody would allow them to say the real purpose of the items" rather than "suggestive thing presented as normal with a lot of rib-to-elbow action and stifled giggles behind the scenes, often hidden from management"

It's one of those "it fits the literal definition but not the spirit" situations. Idk Maybe it's just me.

It'll never not be funny though

I sent this to some friends with my own added text of "Russia: doing a genocide. Israel: totally a-ok, no genocide here, carry on"

One of the people surprised me with a "how can you possibly think Russia isn't trying to genocide Ukraine" and was completely flabbergasted that I was actually suggesting that Israel fucking is.

Even if that's the way you think, I thought my sarcasm was perfectly clear and would be obvious to them what my stance is...

You think you know some people.

"hey let's release the same thing over and over again, charge almost full game price for it, and whenever something new comes out, just delete everything they've already paid for."

"hey why aren't people continuing to buy our game..."

Yeah. Great mystery, that one.

Bungie will never get another dollar from me.

Every time my family brings up some character they believe "didn't need to be gay", I start bringing up movies I know they like that have unnecessarily ham-fisted romances that make no sense.

To all the people who think Pacific Rim would have been improved by Raleigh and Mako kissing at the end, you are wrong. There was 0 need for romance in a movie about giant robots beating the shit out of giant alien monsters.

Most action movies don't need their little romance subplots, yet they're everywhere.

Most movies would be mostly unchanged if you took out any romantic entanglement at all.

9/10 times, they're all unnecessary.

But if they're going to be crammed in, they should be representative. Lgbtq+ exist. They deserve representation.

My family has mostly stopped mentioning it around me.

Bro, just let XT-24 have a break.

Just give him a tramp stamp. Maybe a butterfly.

I've heard plenty of people try to say WOLFENSTEIN glorifies nazis

I've had one idiot tell me ANY media that paints them as competent or successful is glorifying them. And setting anything in a world where they succeeded and progressed technologically instead of collapsing is basically saying Hitler's world view is valid.

I still don't know how to respond to that beyond "if you think the nazis were incompetent you don't know history, and if you think showing a future where fascism took hold is unrealistic I have some bad news for you"

It's fantasy, and specifically a fantasy in which you get to go on a massive killing spree against some of the worst people in history, how you can somehow pull "this game is making these guys look good" from that, I'm not sure.
