Canadians pay it and are hopefully turned to other options, smaller companies, and hopefully Canadian ones. That would drive Amazon's business down, and that hurts the billionaires more than the tax.

Its actually a smaller one too. Those 5 1/4 HDDs could be 2 bays tall.

Because it targets his buddies Zuck and Besos.

Garter snakes are harmless, they run from you and don't bite.

I respect your opinion, but I lived through 90s computing and think dongles died the death they deserve and these phone manufacturers can go to hell for bringing them back or thinking that bluetooth audio is good enough.

Additionally most of the droids I have bought that have a jack are the perfect thickness in my mind. Weighted enough to stay in my hand and take a couple dozen drops without accident. Plus the headphone jack is used as an antenna and provides radio capabilities so I can listen to local news instead of whatever the tech industry wants to feed me. Which is a nice option.

Guilty Canadian Admission:

In my teens I lived in Brockville Ontario near Ogdensburg New York and watched a lot of US channels. The Star Spangled Banner came on at the beginning of the broadcast day for some channels.

For many years, I thought the first line was "Jose can you see"

~~America~~ Ignorant, selfish pricks, stopped using headphones.

Let's be real. You have to be pretty self absorbed to not realize how ignorant it is to walk around playing your music out loud or having a conversation on speakerphone instead of putting the damn phone to your ear.

And its not just flights. Its busses, restaurants, waiting rooms, forest trails.

The problem for me is that most Canadian Banks give you the choice of SMS or their shitty adware filled bank app that relies on Google Play Services and wont implement TOTP so I can use a true MFA app. And Im done with being forced to accept user policies I don't agree with to do shit, and most of all done with Google Play Services on my device 😑

Title says it all. He sells Scrooge better than any other movie adaptation I've seen.

This. Throwing your trash on the ground because you can't find a trash can amounts to childish entitlement in my eyes.

No trash cans in the forest, is OP saying they just litter all through nature when they go camping?

As the title says, I'm curious if they ever named or revisited this Human civilization in the later parts of the timeline in any way? It seems like too good of an opportunity to not revisit it at some point.

My searches did not reveal any answer, so thought I'd ask my fellow trek nerds.

This is the most unfiltered article I've read from The Atlantic... by the time I finished the second paragraph I had to re-read the title to understand how I got here.

Edit: To be clear, this has been revealed as satire, its just so close to reality one could be forgiven for confusing the two.

Just had this one shared with me directly on signal and could not find it in here, nor could I find a source. Too good not to share though. If someone knows the meme creator I'll update this with proper credit.

Home Assistant. Offline smart home automation you can control.

Home doesn't have to be 100% dumb in 2023. But you have to do a little work for it.

Bonus: your smart home will be more capable and interconnected than any of the commercial smart home options because they are all busy trying to control the entire ecosystem and sue each other. (maybe Matter changes that but I'm not holding my breath)

Is the darkspace theme something that comes packaged with Lemmy or something the server admins are throwing together? I love where it's going but its in need of some love.. there's nothing to make the posts readable against the background.

Complaints are not intended here, I could likely help if someone points me to a place where I can make PRs.
