A lot of people might not even find it worth working if their already meager wages are garnished to pay insurmountable debts. I’ve been in a similar situation and know I considered just saying fuck it and leaving the workforce altogether.

Russia’a goal is destroying Ukraines military which they’re doing extremely effectively. They’re not racing to grab land lol

The primary contradiction globally today is the U.S. (and her coalition’s) repression of any movement around the world that might be liberatory or allow alternative development outside of the U.S. dominated global capitalist financial order.

Russia is itself a capitalist state since the USSR was illegally dissolved at the hands of U.S. puppets like Yeltsin, you’re right about that. But the U.S’s own intransigence in refusing to let Russia into the club and continuing to antagonize and try to cannibalize Russia, they’re forced into a position of opposing the U.S. empire directly.

So it’s not Russia in itself with all of its flaws and repression that we are voicing support for, it’s the role that Russia can and is playing in opposing US global imperialism. If they deal a strategic defeat to the empire, it’s a win for oppressed people around the world.

This and the Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins are so helpful to understanding the role the US has played in world history from WW2 to present.

You should be directing your reprehension at Israel exclusively, since Israel exclusively has the power to end all of this.

I just read to my parents about the Haymarket tragedy and the origins of Mayday, and how the United States freaked out that people all over the world began recognizing that day and in order to cut it off in the US they made May 1st loyalty day and used red scare shit to make sure nobody would demonstrate or do anything on May 1st here lol. They had never heard of any of it.

This thread just blew up tbh, unlike anything I've seen here. Mostly, our news bulletin megathread sometimes breaks 1000 comments, when there's big news happening. Most other threads never hit 500. This one seems like it was bait to draw in lib commenters from the wider lemmyverse after federation and it worked. The user in question came in pretty antagonistically and is replying to all the replies they got, so yeah it's probably a lot of replies to deal with but they also brought it on themself and it wasn't anything coordinated. I myself have been engaging with this person, but just the same way I would have argued with anybody else here that I disagreed with over the last 3ish years.

I legit can't tell if this is a joke lol. Which country do you live in that doesn't have a lot of cameras? I have awful news for you if you live in the US or the UK.

It's CPC and of course they are, there's no reason to believe otherwise apart from being a dumb little racist baby who thinks only white people can do socialism properly.

A "capitalist hellscape" that has seen steady improvement year over year for the workers and peasants for like 50+ years?

I'm outside of the US and want to watch some games for free, idk where to find this stuff, seems like google, reddit etc are useless for finding it nowadays.

Edit: nvm I found one off of reddit after all

Anything that's not super intense or fast paced (not looking for a shooter game or anything where I've got to be quick, something more chill. Or maybe I'll just start a new run of Disco Elysium again

Edit: thanks so much guys I just woke up to a ton of notifications and there's a lot of great stuff in this thread to try out!

EDIT: Thank you, I'm all good now! Hopefully I will be in a position soon to help others the way I was helped today. This community gives me a lot of hope for the world. ❤️❤️❤️

My main questions here are whether there are stipulations about when the loan was taken, when the course of study finishes, and if having a cosigner affects whether one qualifies.

I'll just give my data and see if anybody can find this out for me: Say I have a student loan from Sallie Mae that was taken around January of last year, for a course of studies that terminate in October. One thing I'm wondering, I definitely make (way) less than the income, in fact I make pretty much nothing. But in order to get a loan in the first place I needed to have my parents co-sign, and I'm pretty sure they make more than 125k. Does the income of a cosigner come into play here, or can I still get $10k cancelled?

I'm arguing with people about how China is actually functionally more democratic than western "democracies" but sometimes people really want to drill into the details of it and I don't know exactly where to get finer details about how the elections processes and other democratic processes work.
