Oh sorry I meant the 2020 BLM protests, not covid. But yeah not dying or having your life ruined by the current US gov helps too

My hope is that the pressure is rising, and eventually, something will happen that will cause people to get going. Similar to 2020

Sorry I don't have a way to help. I noticed this changed recently as well and was really frustrated by it.

Believe it or not, a decade ago, EA support was actually good. I know it sounds insane but I had the BEST customer service call with someone from the Midwest US. I was trying to get into the time trials in the game Mirrors Edge. For some reason, I was getting a weird connection error.

I spoke to this customer service rep who walked me through some bizarre steps, which seemed effectively like clearing the cache of my xbox. All the while, we just shot the shit and discussed games. It was just a casual call, she was genuinely helpful and SO efficient.

At the end of it I didn't wana hang up the phone LOL. It was the best customer service call I've ever had and it kills me knowing that they axed these people at some point. It was a call that I think is rare to experience nowadays with service reps being overworked and monitored to hell and back.

The owner of the company I work for was celebrating this last night. Gross

Interesting. I feel like surely there must be a way to...make things genuinely helpful lol. I would rather have effective security than shitty security. Idk if I would want nothing though? Weird. Thanks for sharing!

I often hear how the TSA was/is security theatre. Was this ever proven with any kind of stats? Did they ever stop any big incidents from occurring?

I remember going through various American airport security in the 2000's and thought it was intimidating (i was a kid). But i figured it would at the very least deter people who might attempt some kind of crime of opportunity? Idk.

I've been streaming recently, and one thing that stands out to me is when you first boot up a game and it doesn't have a start menu with settings.

I noticed it before, but now I really notice it. If something is wrong with the settings, sometimes that intro is unplayable or a less than optimal experience. So you have to try and skip, fix the issue, and then restart the game and try again. This seems to be more of a PC issue than a console issue, but even on consoles sometimes you need to adjust things like brightness or add subtitles

Playing the metal gear collection and this immediately stood out. The cutscenes are long

So I had never tried duckduckgo until just now and it seems they recently added ai summaries, too, lol. Dang it. I'll try start page in a sec

Edit: start page seems good. They do have blurbs but they're from Wikipedia and don't seem to be ai related

Good fucking shit. Hope slightly restored

This was also my complaint. I felt like it was missing the cooperative aspect of an MMO that I wanted. I think FFXI is closer to what I want, but it's understandably older and less accessible for a lot of people. I'm still debating when/if i wana take the plunge and just play that for a while.

I've spent about 60 hours replaying the intro quests in XIV trying to get into it lol

I was wondering about this. AI info on every search seems ridiculous

(Is there a more appropriate community to post this in?) Thank you in advance for any advice/help!

I've come across this build on PC part picker, but I was hoping someone could help me customize it a bit better for my needs. I'm going to be streaming, gaming, and editing videos on this machine.

I would like to future-proof the PC as much as I reasonably can (10-15 years' usage would be great).

My budget is probably around 2-3k CAD? I am over extending myself slightly, but I have used my PC daily for 12 years, and I figure if not now, when?

The only other thing I might consider is new monitors, but otherwise, I'll be reusing all my peripherals as those are more recently upgraded!

I was also thinking a better Nvidia card might be worthwhile? The main thing is I'm not familiar with how the parts work in terms of compatibility. That and electrical usage/needs from the power supply

Edit: are prebuilts any good nowadays? I'm not opposed to the idea. I know I could figure out assembly myself, but if there's something worthwhile, I wouldn't be opposed either.

Edit: Just want to say thank you for all the helpful advice and information. I ended up finding a PC that met my needs and then some!

What are your thoughts on this? Are you happy? Sad?

I'm extremely curious. If you asked me this as a kid, I would have been celebrating. I always thought games should be accessible to everyone. But now I'm questioning if Microsoft plans to keep the Xbox ecosystem alive.

Exclusive titles are/were the incentive to keep people on certain consoles. Currently, I think only gamepass and digital libraries would be the only reason to stay with Microsoft if they continue to make systems in the future.

Additionally, I'm curious as to how this could destabilize the market. With no direct competition for high end hardware (other than pc/the steam deck), Sony can kinda do whatever they please.

I feel like I've played a good amount of horror titles, and I find I don't really get scared much anymore.

What are some titles that scared you the most? I would love to hear your recommendations!
