As a German, I hate our stupid-ass politics just as much as you USinas hate yours.

Where you have two choices that are the same, Germans get several ,but they are also all the same. This is in large part because no one party here gets 50% of the vote, meaning coalitions have to be made and, somehow, someway, no one knows exactly how, they all always work with the conservatives and do their politics.

CDU/CSU - our conservatives who wants nothing to ever change except that they should get richer.

SPD - Social democrats (who betrayed us) whose politics have become functionally indistinguishable from CDU politics after several coalitions. There are some young people who try to improve things but they are powerless.

The Greens - CDU plus nimby environmentalism. They used to be able to say they are a real alternative, but ever since they too went into coalition with the CDU, they also support all their politics, so long as they get a scrap of lip service for green initiatives that amount to nothing.

FDP - The liberals. Nuff said. Thankfully nearly powerless these days as they make politics exclusively for billionaires and people slightly wised up to that with them.

Die Linke - The Left. Pretty toothless at this point and not voted for by most people because they are constantly presented as fundamentally unserious by the media.

AFD - The party people who are disillusioned with politics vote for to stick it to the system...or because they are racists. Or both. They too won't get 50% any time soon, but it's not like the NSDAP had 50% when they took power...

There's also a gaggle of smaller parties that stand for mostly stupid, local issues that people make because there is nothing more German then having your very own political party and opinion.

Oh and there is the MLPD, the Marxist Leninist Party of Germany. They are strong relatively with young voters (~9% of first voters in some places vote for them. the kids are alright), but overall barely get a percentage point in some places and there is more talk of forbidding them then there is of forbidding the AFD. So yea, lovely stuff.
