100 years from now we will have unlearned all of that.

It’s one thing to have money or other items stolen but passports, phones, that can have serious consequences. Some people also have valuable photos in their wallet. Those thieves deserve a proper beating or even one or two fingers cut off. Fuck that scum.

I took a test as a kid and 30 years later and they both said 114. Honestly did not expect that.

I don't remember it myself but on the playground I apparently fell off one of those climbing walls with the holes in it and somehow my nose got caught in it and it ripped open or something. So my nose was stitched back on and now one canal is a bit smaller than the other. My mom loves to tell this very bloody story.

I know all the ways tofu can be used. But it is a great meat substitute as well and what is wrong with that? I don’t understand the hate against meat substitutes. Especially when it’s not one of those ultra processed foods, which tofu clearly isn’t.

Yes there are A LOT of great meals without any meat-like ingredients but sometimes it’s just a nice addition. I like to make vegan Paella with smoked tofu cubes for example or bolognese with crumbled tofu. It’s all a substitute.

How this man hasn’t crumbled by the all the responsibility and pressure is beyond me.

I’m a millennial who was happy to not be required to go through military training back when it was still a thing but already phasing out. Bundeswehr was a thing for gun fanatics and manly men, nothing that was actually necessary. I was a pacifist. My work ethics today are now close to what Gen Z apparently has. Work is simply not the center of my life anymore.

These days I’m wondering if a 40 year old man (in better shape than my 18 year old self though) can still enlist voluntarily because I want to fight for our European values. I’d rather die in battle than being occupied by power hungry dictators. Not sure this Gen Z guy understands that his work life balance days are over if that happens.

Not accepting that people need time to adjust and maybe go vegan in smaller steps. There is even hostility towards people who look for fake meat or dare to say they like the taste of meat even though they still want to avoid eating it. Just generally being assholes and gatekeepers.

Does anyone know of a simple, battery powered state switch device for either Matter, Homekit or Zigbee? It should NOT be a wallsocket and specifically needs to keep a permanent on/off state.

My current plan is to be able to set an "On Vacation" state and base my automations around that but other usecases are possible as well.

I used to have this using a virtual switch in Homebridge that ran on a Raspi but this thing was too maintenance heavy and I would prefer a less hacky solution.

People expecting a new Twitter when switching to Mastodon were met with weird behavior and nerds who told them the awful search function or weird comment count is working correctly because that's how federation works. Well if that's the case then federation is shit.

If you’ve written 500k lines of code you were surely pretty confident about your decision.

Incredible how humans always find ways of abusing more animals.
