I just want to say that baby's turkey costume is using dish gloves for the "feet" and it's so derpy that I love it.

He most certainly did aquire his knowledge through dissection. The real genius here is that he was able to see these structures in death and then "see" and reproduce it in his art of the living. Bodies in death do not look the same as bodies that are living.

Just adding this article here from the ACOG about how tenuous the definition of viability is and how few babies actually make it when delivered in the 20-25 week mark. We love to focus on those miracle babies who do make it this early but it is definitely not the norm.

I will never stop wanting a remake of Eternal Darkness. All the other horror games got decent remakes/updates but where's the love for Eternal Darkness?

This is fucking barbaric. The hospital let her sit for 40 hours with a fetus hanging out of her uterus. Just take a moment to imagine what that alone must have felt like aside from the emotional horror of losing a pregnancy. We wouldn't even imagine treating pets or livestock this way but it's clear that these repugnant forced-birthers don't consider women to be people. One little pill to speed up the labor that her body already decided was needed was all that was required to keep this woman alive. What's the point of even having healthcare when we can't rely on it.

Oh that poor baby. Growing back new feathers sucks, especially all at once. I did find this article on how to safely use Lantern Fly tape Incase any one is interested.

Is this one new fad I don't know about because I have a neighbor who's done this exact same thing?

This is straight up medical negligence. You seriously mean to tell me at no point did any of these doctors just order up simple lab work to confirm that there was nothing wrong while placating the mother? Every hospital I've ever worked in has an unwritten policy that if you come into the ER you're getting basic blood work and a urinalysis if only to prevent malpractice suits. I truly believe that COVID irreparably broke the already disfunctional for-profit healthcare system here in the US and with every story like this I lose hope that it will ever be fixed.

I remember getting our first computer. It was a Tandy 1000 and I was completely fascinated by it. I loved playing games on it but we couldn't afford them. My dad got some sort of PC magazine that always had the DOS code for one or two games in the back and I would spend hours writing that code onto the PC so we could play things like video poker or chess.

I've been buying the crushed Chaos boxes for MTG cards at my local Walmart this year. These things have probably been sitting in storage forever instead of being sent back but I grab them when I see them. They've been real good to me. I pulled a Rhystic Study, Ragavan, Ao the sky dawn, and a Junji the Midnight Sky out of them this summer.

Yea getting up and about after surgery sucks but it's the best way to prevent blood clots. Very glad to hear you made it to the hospital in time!

I know that this one is practicing killing but the derpiness is too strong. 🥰

Saw this nice guy/gal in front of my shed this morning when I took the dog out. The dog was completely oblivious and I was able to get a nice pic without scaring it off.

I was curious if anyone knows anything about the large delay for content coming in from lemmy.world? There's a discussion over there in one of fediverse communities and apparently we're like a week behind in receiving data.

Here's another old picture from my vault. This is one of our Greenbottle blue tarantulas (Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens). We spent the day watching this little guy molt from start to finish and took pictures of the whole process. You can see in this picture that he is laid out on his back on his molting malt. At this stage he has split from the carapace lengthwise down the sides and is currently pulling his legs out of the molt. We had two at the time and wanted to breed them but they both turned out to males.

Here's a pic of my favorite little guy and one the only good pictures I've ever taken. Unfortunately he turned out to be a male so I didn't have him too long but he was a great tarantula to keep.
