Does this person want to look into the history of why these countries are "democracies"? No? They're just saying that the asiatic brainpan is finally moving away from their authoritarian nature, except for the backwards Xing dynasty which needs to be "civilised" by the west?

"'becoming' the norm"? In terms of just 'Democracy', China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan have all had parliamentary elections for many decades.
South Korea was the last to the party on that front. Wonder what happened there
“Stuck in the past” is a stupid choice of words because everyone, including those on the right, are afraid of China overtaking them and advancing beyond the point where they continue to stay relevant on the world stage.
I am excited for when the pendulum swings and the new antichinese cyberpunk crystallizes into an aestetic
Meg who is abused by the rest of her family for no reason.
The rest of her family: vile, unintelligent, compulsive, no introspection.
I haven't seen the show but the setup in this scene makes Meg looks like the correct side, i.e. undermining their point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks like a pro-PRC meme lmfao. Also """Democracy""" Japan still has a monarch and a de-facto one-party system.

she was. it was the episode where she blasts the family about their abuse and it ultimately makes them dysfunctional. after that brian sits her down and convinces her to be their "lighting rod" or somesuch, saving the status quo. this liberal, being typically evil, probably remembers all this and admires both that and the rich aristocratic version of the others
European don't seem to think there's a problem with monarch otherwise there would still be plenty of work for the ol choppy boy.
In an ostensibly competitive liberal democracy, Japan has been ruled by the same party, the LDP, for almost the entirety of the post-war period.
The LDP was founded by former fascist war criminals, and was propped up by US intelligence.
Calling Japan a functional democracy is, at best, a big logical reach
I actually want to hear a liberal try to explain how South Korea is democratic while China isn't.
I seen someone recently state that fascism is when the state interferes in private enterprise.
I've known people who've told me capitalism predates human society because "monkeys traded bananas" and "atoms trade electrons."
Ah yes, US military base countries Hirohito-East-1, Chiang-Kai-shek-2, the cult-controlled Samsung-Rhee-3. Much democracy, yes.
I like the extra touch that "acting better than" involved wearing dated European high fashion for the aristocracy
if anyone's stuck in the past it's the chauvinist libs whose image of China is still in 1982
How's that cost of living going for you guys?
