This is when a liberal comes in and says "Yes this is why I support immigration! We need cheap labor" and then I want to hit them with a stick

Scott Brannock, president of Jacksonville-based Tidewater Homes and the Northeast Florida Builders Association [...said, ] "Talking with large shell contractors, large builders, I don’t think they fully anticipated or estimated the amount of immigrant labor that are on our job sites every day."

what a crock of shit lmao, literally anyone could have told you this

I used to think capitalists were strategically trying to create a perfect sweet spot of racism, partial legality and desperation that provided the conditions for exactly that group of workers they are lamenting the loss of in this article. But of course the capitalists drank their own farts and are just genuinely stupid racists.

Cynics who knew they were pushing useful bullshit got replaced by people who grew up with the propaganda and are true believers.

I genuinely think this is it. You had cynical neoliberals stripping the copper out of the walls under the guise of trickle down economics, racism, etc. Their follower base believed the rhetoric. Now, you mostly have true believer neoliberal politicians being manipulated by the cynical theorists who don't even want to do the "work" of being a neoliberal politician in America, but over time, it will shift to all be dipshit true believers.

for real. it goes to show how pervasive the ideology is that we assume the people benefiting the most under capitalism are clever, doing the calculation and finely tuning the controls for the optimal outcome of durable profit extraction.

it took me actually meeting some of these people to understand that almost all of them are ignorant shitheels who clumsily yank their levers of power to boost their immediate position and frequently sit on their own balls in the process.

it reinforces the idea that this is a system under which contradictions sharpen and tensions heighten because the people with control can't stop themselves.

they are. they do it not by imagining a balance though, but by moving in one direction, overreaching and then correcting, searching for stable equilibrium. from operation wetback (pardon) to whatever clinton was pulling with gatekeeper to trump, it oscillates.

but because size of economy shifts and there are constant shocks due to civil wars/sanctions by usa itself, there is no equilibrium to be found.

are they suggesting they were involved in illegal activity by employing illegal migrants? how can this be, i thought usa was law and order country? not-built-for-this

It would be very funny to see the difference in polling on:

"I think all illegal immigrants should be convicted of a crime and deported."

    vs

"I think anyone who employs an illegal immigrant should be convicted of a crime and jailed."

A lot of true believer hogs will absolutely argue the latter, because they have been fundamentally miseducated and do not understand that the entire point of anti-immigrant terror in the US is about keeping a population of hyperexploited and precarious laborers for the ruling class to profit off of. Like they don't live in material reality, they've just been whipped into a rabid racist frenzy to serve as another cog in the exploitation and terror machine, and they've fully internalized the lies that brought them to that point and extrapolated them to their logical conclusion.

I care little for the plight of the small business owner. Let them suffer, may they even suffer 1% of what ICE victims and their families have to go through.

Wonder how many thirds of contractors voted for Trump and are getting exactly what they voted for?
