Merz about Scholz back in the day

If a chancellor with such a low approval rate does not show any signs of changing his communication, his politics, his style of leadership, then he leaves the people alone with all problems. That's just a lack of respect.

Let's introduce a 5%-rule for chancellors staying in office.

Don't celebrate, Germans hate him because his not far enough to the right, despite pandering to AfD.

That's not true? He's an asshole in general, talks down and has no actual clue, but is convinced it's everyone else that is wrong. People didn't like the so called reforms they're planning for the health and care sectors

There are people claiming he's not far right enough, but that's definitely not the majority of people who don't like him. The hate in Merz is actually one of the rare unifying topics in Germany. Nobody likes him.

Sounds like the UK with Starmer. Left and right were united in detesting him.

Do you have a Burnham equivalent who could turn it around ?

Clicked the link to find out why, but modern journalism just sucks like that. Zero context given.

Imagine your program being "Fuck the people. They are lazy free-loaders anyway. We need to demolish social security to make the rich richer!" and your reaction to every new low of approval being "We need to stay on our course until all those idiots finally understand our genius!" and you have an accurate picture of Friedrich Merz and his government.

Now combine this with the fact that Merz took over the party lead with the explicit goal to half the far-right AfD's numbers (~10% back then) but instead spend all his time parroting their talking points (because the voters you lose to the far-right will totally come back if you aim to be a bad copy of the extremists they voted for...) thus making them now stand at ~28% in polls. All while his party also got completely eliminated from parliament in a recent state election by missing the required 5%, a historical first time ever achievement. So his own party (and the remaining voters) aren't thrilled either...

This is just a short news ticker, not an in-depth article. Those are part of journalism as well, an essential part that has existed since the advent of the telegraph.

This Wikipedia article provides some good background information:
