"There will be some bullshit but how bad can it be?" - clueless

I can't do my job because the embodyment of KKKalifornia chose to unnecesarily make the most braindead FUCKING KEYBOARD possible and all you fucking yanks just rolled with that imbecile shit instead of throwing bricks at that slimy bastard

That shitstain dying of hubris was too merciful

Anyways I'm looking into that Karabiner shit

Great bit tho, I feel PPBed in real life

I'm a dumb yank, but I'd never advise anyone to go with an Apple product, largely cuz I'm poor but also cuz I don't like Apple's UI

Edit: total aside, but when I used to work overseas, my students were always shocked that I didn't have all Apple products

I don't really mind any other UI thing besides the keyboard and its non-direct compatibility with an external normal keyboard instead I gotta do a bunch of tweaking I havent started yet.

But yes all Apple products are ridiculously expensive.

Anytime someone hands me an apple product I fumble around like an 80 year boomer; and I am to believe they make superior/intuitive products? Atrocious keyboard on their laptop, atrocious trackpad that doesn't click for some reason, their phones are stuck with those slow ass gestures that take a business day to complete, and so on. I'd burn my house down if I had to own those pieces of junk.

Same. Apple users keep telling me I just need to get used to it but when I watch them use their computers, they also use them like 80 year olds

My experience with Apple products has universally been that they do not fucking work and it's a huge pain in the ass to troubleshoot them, in addition to the UX being dogshit

i didn't tell you this i told you specifically to use windows because everyone on this site besides me are paid operatives of Linus Torvalds and/or thinks the words 'glass keyboard keys that are slippery' are great.

"You want a 128 Key Apple Keyboard? Fuck you." - What my IT department at work says to me anytime I bring up how awful typing long bug tickets is with a magic mouse and macbook air keyboard. And I refuse to buy a dock with my own money.

Yeah the keyboard and shortcuts are silly business but where I work the windows devices are practically unusable so it's the compromise I choose to make. Our VPN and ms teams on windows uses like all of the ram then reduces the battery life to 10 minutes and for reasons unknown to anyone the same applications on Mac don't do that.

Soon you'll be doing CMD shift 4 like the best of us and deprogram cut and paste from your mind you won't need it where we're going.

My favourite keyboard bit from Mac is plugging in a new one and it pops up with "press the key next to blah so we can configure it" quite literally hasn't worked once for any keyboard I have and I have loads. Ended up getting one that has explicit apple mode and support but the ergonomic one that has apple keys doesn't work xD. Wait until you get to multi monitor scaling and the fact 1440p is basically just non existent to apple. Fractional scaling? Nah. Integer scaled super resolution

Conversely I really do like the trackpad three finger swipe and full screen window things but using a mouse is pain. The magic mouse is also meme hardware.

Also for some reason where I work your choices are a HP windows laptop with 2 bytes of ram and a 1 core CPU and gods chosen 1366x768 res TN panel for the same price as a M5 Mac pro and I literally do not understand what's going on

Couldn't be me, I'd never recommend anything but Linux sicko-tux

KKKalifornia chose to unnecesarily make the most braindead FUCKING KEYBOARD possible

USian keyboard layout is a crime against humanity that should be purged by holy fire ignited together by all the trans coders in existence.

ABNT2 is the only sensible QWERTY layout because all the symbols you need are quick and easily accessible in an intuitive manner. QWERTY itself is shit tho, but that's another conversation all together.

That all being said, I never had the opportunity to try a Mac before and I would love to be able to test it once just for curiosity's sake.

No, but for a USB A hub the IT guy told me "the company gonna spend 300 USD for this instead of buying a 4 USD one cuz they are incredibly stupid like that"

So I got a 4 USD one myself

Anyways only thanks to this I discovered there are Bluetooth mouses that don't need the USB plug adapter

    Literally me.

Each time I gotta move files I open a terminal out of spite of the "ooh I'm so fancy and different, I can't cmd+X cmd-V a file like text, I gotta do a stupid fucking dance instead" so I one up them in inconvenience

God fucking damn I knew Mac dipshits were unsufferable but I didn't understood how much more should I have hated them

use a Macbook for the hardware, the unix-based OS, and the good battery life. Then install Emacs and just live inside there. I occasionally look for GNU/Linux "ultrabooks" or Macbook competitors, but they're always a little worse in a few ways. Better because they use GNU/Linux though, of course.

To each their own. I like a MacBook, but I definitely raged about the stupid ass keyboard shortcuts for the first six months I had one.

Touchpad shortcuts are fucking magic though.

And it's nice it's a Unix operation system. It basically works like a Linux OS for the most part. There are some differences, but I find as long as you're not running your MacBook like a server, it doesn't matter.

it's the same fucking keyboard... it's just the software that behaves different.

which makes your problem mostly a skill issue :3 smug
