I’m in favor of this. It’s like explaining a highly technical job to a rank amateur. When most people pick up their car from a mechanic, they don’t want (and won’t understand) a highly detailed explanation of the issue. They just want to know if their car is okay to drive.

I am a cis male. Although seeing a Pride flag makes me happy, I don’t know what all the colors mean. I don’t know a lot about sexual identities. Feel free to dumb your sexuality down for me!

Even as I slowly learn most of the meanings, and shifting sub-cultures, I still don't need to know. I mean, I listen if I care about the person, but I'm not trying to be a matchmaker so I don't really have a reason to know the details, I don't even want to be overly involved in boring cis/het people's dating lives, or those of my (slightly less, but still boring) gay friends. I identify as old and indifferent, I'll just be happy if you're happy.

I tell unfriendly cis people I'm female but I let them mistake me for male if it benefits me (my work is managing violent behaviors so some confused patients act better if they think I'm male).

I tell friendly cis people and especially children "kinda both kinda neither."

I tell lgbt people "what're you the Cops?" or "that's proprietary information and and I don't have a copy of the NDA form on me."

And my answer to the pronoun question is "what you call me when I'm not here is none of my business."

I guess if I had to pick one it'd probably be 'it' because I've always wanted to be the weird side character probably something like a janitor or something except you're not entirely sure I'm human and I show up once per book / season, easily fix exactly one (1) problem, then completely disappear again.

Like seriously, i don't understand beeing non-binary. Like seriously, i dont know whats going on. The wikipedia article was not helpfull at all, and every resource i find, feels very much designed for the in-group.

And it is strangely annoying to me, thst people in germany start using english neo pronouns like dey in german. Whats going on there as well.

Does anyone have a resource that explains all that?

meh, in the autism community the prevalence of lgbt ppl seems to be up to a majority, so even I'm cis straight whatever, one just has to learn a bit about the stuff if you expect to have friends.

I don't care what you are, as long as you're kind.

the worst part is idek what my gender identity really is. woman is the best approximation but beyond that im too weird to fit neatly in anyones box. we're all our own special little goblins at the end of the day.

Well, this looks like an user I knew that might be dead due to the Turkish government imprisoning and torturing to death trans people. They said they would have to kill themselves unless they can get refugee status, to avoid being tortured to death.

    And they had this profile.

Super detailed gender identity is the type of phrase that acts as a beacon for every bully in the vicinity.
