During an August 2026 speech at a Las Vegas rally, President Donald Trump mocked electric vehicle owners' range anxiety, characterizing the habit of constantly monitoring battery depletion on long journeys as a "disease". While discussing his administration's rollback of federal EV policies, he joked that motorists who worry about finding a charging station when their batteries are still three-quarters full are "crazy". These rhetorical attacks underscore his ongoing political opposition to the transition toward electric transport and federal emissions mandates.

He's right but about ev buyers, not actual ev users. You do not need three gajillion miles of range on your xpeng. Just buy whatever and find a place you can charge it once a day or so while studying a foreign language on your phone if it has to be out of the house. He's not right to roll back subsidies of course.

Edit: based solely on the video description, I don't actually want to listen to him talk.

porky-scared projection What will happen to the oil demand and thus the manufactured war demand! How can I speculate if I can't manipulate the energy markets!

Lol EVs are pretty cool at least as far as cars go. Like, as the strange sort of person that enjoys driving, it's genuinely fun to drive an ev. Instant trottle response and real good handling since the battery weight is in the floor putting the center of gravity low. Ripping up and down country roads in my EV is easily on par with my 5 speed manual shitbox for reckless fun factor.

With expanding fast charging options in the US range anxiety is really not a significant. It might take 30-40 minutes to "fill up" but if I'm making a 200+ mile road trip I can pretty easily fit a 30 minute rest stop in somewhere along the way.

Obviously car bad train good, but you ever notice how everyone is constantly allowed and encouraged to regularly hurl insults at anyone to the left of Hitler, but you ever do it back and the world stops to lecture you on how horrible it is to insult a chud, the world’s sacred cow?

Imagine the outrage if this was Mamdani calling coal rollers idiots.

I dunno, antivaxxers, coal rollers, whatever the fuck you call people who drink raw milk, aren't really held in high esteem. I haven't met anyone who didn't think they were complete idiots.

I mean moving right (the dismantling of more and more working rights) is baked into the system. It only "makes sense" that the nation with the most advanced capitalism would feel it is an offense to insult Hitlerites while being fine with the abduction and murder of "unwanted" people.
