During an August 2026 speech at a Las Vegas rally, President Donald Trump mocked electric vehicle owners' range anxiety, characterizing the habit of constantly monitoring battery depletion on long journeys as a "disease". While discussing his administration's rollback of federal EV policies, he joked that motorists who worry about finding a charging station when their batteries are still three-quarters full are "crazy". These rhetorical attacks underscore his ongoing political opposition to the transition toward electric transport and federal emissions mandates.

Lol EVs are pretty cool at least as far as cars go. Like, as the strange sort of person that enjoys driving, it's genuinely fun to drive an ev. Instant trottle response and real good handling since the battery weight is in the floor putting the center of gravity low. Ripping up and down country roads in my EV is easily on par with my 5 speed manual shitbox for reckless fun factor.

With expanding fast charging options in the US range anxiety is really not a significant. It might take 30-40 minutes to "fill up" but if I'm making a 200+ mile road trip I can pretty easily fit a 30 minute rest stop in somewhere along the way.
