I survived a slab bed! (thelemmy.club)
submitted 3 days ago by Athena5898@hexbear.net to c/chat@hexbear.net

So, got a rare occurrence. Getting a day holiday because of a weird circumstance. (Friend was going to a doctor appointment a few hours away but it was canceled after we could do anything about the hotel)

However the bed was so hard that it wasn't really better then sleeping on the floor. I have body problems and some auto immune disorder that I don't know what it is so this is very bad AND the two other people are snoring up a storm. (Not their fault of course)

So I hatched a plan and grabbed every spare pillow and the spare blanket and made a nest in the bathtub.

I kid you not, was way better then the bed. That's how bad the bed was. And my body is bothering me a little less then it would have if I had kept trying to sleep on the bed.

Anyway. Enjoy my weird circumstance.

Honestly, if most tubs were like 3 feet longer, they look like they'd be very comfortable for me.

I hope you get better rest, in a better nest!

And somehow every hotel I go to has the softest beds on earth and I feel like I'm being slowly consumed. I'm the complete opposite and would have loved the slab.

Its so weird like, we kept getting firming beds thinking it would help my back. But turns out it was my hip radiating to my lower back and whatever joint thing I have is fucking Goldilocks and needs a mix of firm and soft or my circulation is cut off and my hip gets worse.

The human body is just so fucking weird how its different for everyone

Have you tried a body-pillow or a "between the knees" pillow?

It helped me a lot, but obviously it's super body dependent.

Sadly yes. Its a little complicated because things that work for my hip ends up fucking my upper joints.

The best I've found is a recliner. Hope I can get a special bed someday that does that.

And somehow you survived the tornado when no one else did.

Being originally from Oklahoma. The thought did cross my mind.

I cycle in and out of seasonal phases where in the winter I'll make a bathroom floor nest and sleep shockingly well listening to podcasts

I'm way too tall to do that

Sometimes I get a little self conscious with how short I am. But honestly it has its own benefits

not "short", but fun-size

Been there but for me it was to escape a loud snorer

A few days ago - I finished binge watching Halt and Catch Fire. A couple has two very rambunctious daughters. Their mom is exhausted from work. Their dad is looking her and he finally finds her taking a rest in the bathtub. He says "What are you doing in there?" And she says it was the only place she could find a moment's peace.
