Europeans are happy to point and laugh at American racists.
But then moment some Africans cross the border their tune changes.
The difference is, most Americans themselves are descended from immigrants. We also don't really laugh at the prevention of illegal immigration either when it is done sensibly.

Some ways are more sensible than others, but the whole concept of illegal immigration emerged from racists trying to maintain their racial purity so it's fundamentally flawed from the get go.
It depends how you look at it. Generally people respect the autonomy of native americans. I think racial purity is stupid, but different cultures do have different social systems, more diverse than what we realise. Generally, integration is a good thing rather than a free-for-all.

People dripping in from the continent over hundreds of years isn't the same as a sudden influx hopping a continent and causing smallpox to wipe out the locals

The reconquista. When Christian Spanish kingdoms were conquering Muslim Iberia they took part of North Africa with it, as a treat, and just kept it since. The (honestly kinda sensible) Spanish position is these are core Spanish territories that simply happen to be in Africa rather than colonial territories that should be given back. Historically the Spain (or equivalents)-Morocco (or equivalents) border has been pretty fluid, so there's no reason per se that "Africans stay in Africa, Europeans stay in Europe" should hold here, but in that case they don't get to complain about having a land border with their former colonies.
Nah if they swam to the mainland they'd probably be given visas and conscripted into the Olympic team.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
