I am on that list for some reason. I have no idea what Tesseract is, I have no interest in Tesseract or its creator and I don't give a shit about any of this.

But when it was brought to my attention that I am on this rando's shit list, I took a minute to go to his community - hosted on his own instance apparently - and left a comment on his thread about the blacklist to tell him he's just not that important. And now I'm banned from his instance altogether apparently.

And you know what? Strangely enough, I still don't give a shit 🙂

But I will say this: what a sad, empty life this poor man must lead to feel the need to curate a Fediverse blacklist.

There's only like 20 people that post on this thing and apparently he blocked like 75% of them.

[-] deacon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

All the more despondency I feel being weighed, measured, and found acceptable

Just imagine how much his entire little world must be imploding right now.

He really thought he'd figured it out. Found a way to control and censor Lemmy to his liking, without anybody ever being the wiser. But then one day, out of nowhere, he gets found out. Now he's a laughing stock and pariah across all of Lemmy, and his censorship scheme is done, instances dropping his frontend left and right. And, worse, he keeps digging himself deeper, making alt accounts and trying to argue his case ... and people keep seeing through the alt accounts and giving him even more shit for it. And to top it all off, he doesn't have enough self-awareness to ever ask "am I the asshole here?" -- he just keeps whining about how unfair this all is to him.

And the best part is, he deserves every bit of that.

I was looking forward to reading it but I'm only getting "Not found."

Am I the only one or did it just go down?

He added a poorly written DDOS script to his main page to attack db0, I'm guessing that his hosting account was suspended after a complaint about it.

[-] spicehoarder@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

That would be funny if it weren't so damn sad.

[-] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 5 points 2 weeks ago

This holds up, I have a positive tag on you like eery other name I've recognised on the list.

[-] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

Man, I agree with your comment you left there; he needs to get over himself.

While I didn't read his whole rant, I read a good bit of it. He does have a point, in that he's not obliged to accommodate users, and nor are we obliged to use his client.

This is basically history repeating itself again with the Beehaw defederation. Fitting with the motifs associated with history repeating itself, the repeat is a temu knock off of the original.

In both cases it seems pretty immature, at least in approach, but structure isn't necessarily bad and it's a big ocean.

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 10 points 2 weeks ago

He does have a point, in that he’s not obliged to accommodate users

He might not be obligated to "accommodate" users, but I'd argue he is obligated to inform users.

If he'd made the blocklist public and an acknowledged 'feature' of his frontend from the beginning, then sure. Everything would be fine. Some users might want to use it without the blocklist, but he's not obliged to provide that for them.

Making the blocklist secret, though, is deceptive, manipulative, and underhanded. And it goes against the entire ethos of both open source and the fediverse.

I've been around the fediverse longer than the age of my account would suggest, but I missed the drama around Beehaw somehow - what was the story there?

[-] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

Beehaw is by approval only for accounts. They're really clear about this, but they also went through a huge defederation with a lot of big instances.

Well sry for talking about things i find interesting i guess

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago

I do not forgive you. Everyone should be talking about the things I find interesting, and/or setting me up to make lame, tasteless jokes.

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Okay, not to be weird, but I looked at your history to see what you find interesting and contribute but...

"Man dies after being shot by Madison Police Department officer"
"Student pilot successfully lands plane after instructor jumps to death mid-flight"

I don't want to talk about your things :(

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I just happened to stumble on to those and then notice no one has posted them here yet. I also like drinking cough syrup too transform into a pirate, and ghost alien robots.

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Ohhhh now we're talking my language. So ghost alien robots. How does that work?

I see someone's not on the tesseract list ᗜ⩊ᗜ

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

I have my own tesseract anyway, and it's way nicer.

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

Idk, but when I do something and my number for that thing gets big it helps me forget what a failure I am for a few seconds. So it works the same as reddit karma.

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

We all know you know why. ;D

[-] Signtist@bookwyr.me 6 points 2 weeks ago

The issue isn't who or what was on the list, the issue is that the list was hidden. One of the biggest issues with Reddit is that they can censor people they disagree with even against the will of the users. Tesseract was doing exactly that on a platform specifically designed to prevent it.

Sure, different instances can have their own block lists, and users need to find one that works for them, but those are all clearly listed. This one was hidden, causing people who thought they were getting all the information available to them on this platform to instead be getting a tailored list of only what information was deemed acceptable by some person they don't even know. It's a major problem.

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I'd have assumed someone with an @bookworm type server thinger would have picked up on the subtle subtext of beating a dead horse. Of course, maybe you did but were all like "Nah, fuck that, this bitch ass horse deserve some more beatin' on."

sorry you didn't make it to the list it is really nice here

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

This is Lemmy. Karma doesn't exist.

[-] TORFdot0@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

It doesn’t exist but that doesn’t mean that people still don’t associate their self worth based on receiving validation via the number of internet points to the left of their posts/comments

I'm just so tired, man. Such a fucking reddit-esque drama it is. Bunch of dudes getting obnoxiously excited about a nothingburger, repeating over and over how it feels great to be on some list and that they sooo don't give a fuck about it. They less they give a fuck, the more they post about it.

Look here, kid. We both never heard of tesseract before. I've never heard of you before. You're just a username to me. I don't give a fuck you yield a search result on some fucking github repo.

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

You're not even real people, just random sentences and voices in my head. Sometimes you get too quiet to hear so I have to hold this black mirror up to my eyes to see what you're saying.

[-] Godric@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Tesseract bad! ICE bad! Upvote now, quick!

[-] ollie@pawb.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

what is the tesseract list and how do i see it?

Simply unalign yourself from the 3d plane and peer through the inter dimensional fence. When a being of 3+n dimensions (where n>1) passes by, ask them if you may see the list of all tesseracts in existence. Prepare for a lot of rejection, most higher-dimensional beings are dickbags who don't respect us. Be sure to wear goggles or they'll try to spit on you, and believe you me you do not want 5d saliva in your cranial cavity.

Also, the tesseract list is very long but simultaneously compressed into a single point, so the only way to read it is all at once. Be ready for that. You might want to call ahead to nearby inpatient psychiatric services and tell them you're about to go quite mad.

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago
  1. Click the search icon.
  2. Type "Tesseract" as your keyword
  3. Set parameters to title only, top posts of the week
[-] ollie@pawb.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

oh damn, how the hell did i end up on there qwq

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Probably that time you killed all those people, or stopped that guy from killing all those people.
