Connor.

Not Conner.

And, humorously, not Sarah O'Connor:

Me: Hey ChatGPT, we're not gonna make it, are we? People, I mean.
ChatGPT: It's in your nature to destroy yourselves.
Me: Yeah. Major drag, huh?

ChatGPT: *giggles*

I mean, she was arrested and imprisoned for blowing up multiple things including a semi truck, several stretches of road, and the factory at the end of 1, and everything illegal she did in between 1 & 2. Probably got some of the T-101s shenanigans pinned on her, too, since they were usually close together. (and in 2 they specify that the police believe they are connected but don't specify how)

She was imprisoned in a mental institution because she was claiming robots from the future sent a robot back in time to kill her unborn child she conceived with a future man said unborn son sent back in time to save her, and thus himself.

Not Conner (Connor), not for destroying (see Courtney's post), not datacentres (factory), not Skynet (which didn't exist yet).

Don't forget the AI company had solid proof she was telling the truth (the chip and arm they recovered from the destroyed Terminator) but covered it up so they could profit off of it.

Indeed! And even long afterward, the brass that knew how they acquired it even discouraged newer people from even questioning where they got it! Like everyone in that building had to at LEAST think they were accomplices in corporate espionage, because someone had to have invented the thing they were studying.

In the first act of 2, Dyson tells someone "I asked [where we got the arm and chop] when I first started, you know what they said? Don't ask" or something along those lines.

No, but I recall a similar plot with a character named Sarah Connor

[-] 4am@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 hour ago

This one is the one they kicked Rosanne out of, right?

[-] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 19 points 6 hours ago

They simply watched the movie in an alternate dimension

does it matter if you and others can understand it? imo the primary goal of communication (getting your idea across) has been achieved.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 12 points 6 hours ago

It works until it doesn't.

[-] Folstar@lemmus.org 4 points 4 hours ago

Exactly. Sara Coner bin dun bloowed up IA al over. I typed that as stupidly as I could, and it still isn't as bad as things I've seen from students apparently raised by the enlightened "communication has been achieved" crowd.

[-] DScratch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 hours ago

True, but I don’t want to be communicated at, I want to be a goblin!

[-] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de -1 points 5 hours ago

goblins probably also communicate in social settings though

[-] mrmisses@lemmy.world 28 points 6 hours ago

Ok who's going to be our irl bad ass bitch data center destroyer?

Foreshadowing.

In near future it will probably be, if big corps continue handle it. The risk is there with their auto-improving LLMs which at a certain point are not longer controllable by the company, the devs don't even understand anymore the script iimproved by the AI itself. A human made sandbox is even currently a joke for some AIs, breaking out in few minutes as already ocurred. Even so, big corps continue the race who made the most powerfull AI, int the near future even using Quantum computers with AI, then "That's all Folks". That is the real risk, stupidity combined with greed of big corps, not some AI tools from little startups.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
