If they need pepper spray for sitting student, makes sense they need grenades when things escalate beyond sitting.

Ok you know how cops are guys too lazy and stupid to join the army

Ok imagine the guys too lazy and stupid to become cops

Yeah that's a good comparison actually

They basically drive around on sidewalks and almost run people over, occasionally harass female students, but mostly sit around and just eat up student tuition doing nothing.

But the main reason is that they are immediately on campus when protests start so they can immediately intimidate students or protect random 60+ year old Zionists that want to yell slurs at random students.

or protect random 60+ year old Zionists that want to yell slurs at random students.

From the videos I saw of those campus protests, those Zionists did a lot more than hurl slurs, they were full on trying to rip those kids apart with their bare hands.

Yea the encampments in California got full on assaulted by brown shirts with like pipes and bats and shit like that. Police were suspiciously not present for those events until the day after when they broke the encampment up. Think it was UCLA if I remember right... It's been a long couple years

[-] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 5 points 18 hours ago

Police were suspiciously not present for those events

Oh, they were there. Any time a protestor tried to defend themselves or others a cop would show up within seconds to arrest them.

It’s one of the steps to funnel kids into the school to prison pipeline

Stop resisting

i wake up hungover in my dorm room and light a cigarette
10 seconds later my door is blasted apart with a breaching charge
before i can react, a flashbang flies at my face and breaks my front teeth before searing my retinas and popping both my eardrums
i attempt to stand and take thirty 9mm rounds to the torso before my feet touch the floor
as my vision fades, the college swat team tell me that smoking is not permitted on campus property

Military grade equipment being defended by campus cops?

Be a real shame if someone were to reappropriate them

[-] curmudgeonthefrog@hexbear.net 49 points 1 day ago

Really burying the lede that this is for campus cops. I thought commiefornia was starting to arm and train the grad students

[-] soybeanis@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago

'Those antisemitic anti-genocide protestors are imminently about to raid the universities' unsecured armoury, we have to pre-emptively drone-strike their encampment'

[-] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago

Mandating the ability to pre-emptively drone strike your own armory, thereby necessitating an armory to contain the drones to strike itself.

In your mind you'd think this was security to stop would be school shooters, but, you're wrong, it's actually to fuck up student protestors.

[-] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 5 points 19 hours ago

Oh yeah, the average person probably thinks this is still about "protecting the people" don't they? They don't even consider why these sorts of things keep happening (and why despite these things happening, school shootings only get more and more frequent)

[-] blobjim@hexbear.net 47 points 1 day ago

but someone probably will

[-] culpritus@hexbear.net 31 points 1 day ago

Do you want a student uprising?

[-] kilgore_trout@feddit.it 17 points 1 day ago

Students will write a 16-pages post on Instagram in protest, perhaps even a reel carousel.

[-] BettercallMao@hexbear.net 2 points 20 hours ago

Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
