Smh he got rid of his Nazi tattoo for this and you're still canceling him? Woke has gone too far I say

I'm GLAD the Billionaire Backed Media got this Story out RIGHT in Time to allow Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries to PICK a Replacement instead of MONTHS ago When the Information was being Given!

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 10 points 12 hours ago

weird way to be about a victim agonizing over coming forward with details and subjecting herself to additional harassment and scrutiny.

Glad you said that. It's wrong that this woman even had to come forward at all, and I wish her the best as she works with her therapist.

She came forward in part because people were ignoring the other woman because people viewed it as opposition smearing, whereas she explicitly believes in the same policies he campaigns on

Are there any actual progressive candidates (you know without nazi tatoos or SA allegations) that can step in to the campaign? I guess the Dems can just pick whoever they want to run if he officially quits?

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 22 points 17 hours ago

I don’t like getting all tinfoil hat, and I’m certainly not casting doubt on the veracity of the claims. However, given that this came out after the primary happened, if the Dem leadership just anoint a replacement without even the pretense of a democratic process, it’s going to be awfully suspicious.

(Just to be clear, I’m not stanning for Platner in the slightest here, this just about the Dem establishment looking for any excuse to bypass democracy)

I saw some talk about a DSA backed candidate (Troy Jackson) who was hoping to step in if Platner dropped out. I guess he was in the original primary? But there's already allegations lodged against him . I haven't really looked into it beyond that though.

As far as I can tell this story only comes from Progressive Victory tweets, but they had to walk it back after getting a conflicting story from a member of his team. They also claim to have a bunch of other info about other candidates but they're only releasing this.

Progressive Victory was founded in collaboration with Vaush, briefly hired Brianna Wu, and frequently works with Destiny.

Edit: Washington Examiner cited a group called Progressive International but that seems to be an error

Can politicians not be sex pests for five fucking seconds?!

[-] NewAcctWhoDis@hexbear.net 10 points 14 hours ago

The accusation isn't sex-pest related.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 9 points 14 hours ago

Oh nvm then, I'm just used to it ALWAYS being that!

Jackson has been president of the maine senate for years. All he does is send state taxes to bath ironworks, a factory that builds ships for the navy and which is owned by general dynamics, a company which profits from genocide in palestine. Maine has had democrats running the show for quite some time and this is their only accomplishment.

He really doesn't count but Nirav D Shah posted about entering and changing his stance on M4A and Gaza as of, uh, yesterday.

Platner has nothing to gain from dropping out lol, I hate him but maybe he’ll stay in?

[-] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 18 points 16 hours ago

No shot, he's cut off from the money and his staff will likely quit, also he's fully open to prosecution for what he did: drunk driving, home invasion, andremoved, all it takes is a DA to press charges and he could be in handcuffs tomorrow

[-] duderium@hexbear.net 11 points 14 hours ago

That only applies to little people, not intelligence assets. But I don’t know.

[-] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 5 points 13 hours ago

Low Intelligence asset. There, I said it.

Agents do get cut off when they fuck up too bad sometimes, it's not like the feds actually care about them anyway. He seems like he's served his purpose for the time being, maybe?

[-] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 6 points 11 hours ago

The optimal play would be for him to stay until the very last minute before dropping out so the Democrats can have an excuse for why they can't field a new candidate and mobilize in time.

[-] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 8 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

I wonder if he would still stay in even with all the demands that he should drop out.

Mostly because i have seen many libs trying to downplay the things he did, for example now some libs are comparing DAC (the nyc dsa congress candidate) being a left twitter poster with Platner being an abuser like they are comparable

[-] haxboar@hexbear.net 5 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Libs not beating the "Sexual Assault is OK if they are on our team" allogations.
