Oh thank goodness it's made it through the night out there. I hear nature abhors a vacuum

There are many a cat/dog you could name nature and this statement would still hold.

This is what I'm on lemmy for.

[-] ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 days ago

If you're cold, he's cold. Please, take your Roomba inside tonight.

[-] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

It must be so scared :(

[-] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

I don't like the urge to anthropomorphize these small, mobile robots.

"Poor little guy."

These things are increasingly being used to spy on us, not just vacuum cleaners, but the delivery robots, too. They aren't cute, they're intrusive and threatening. I have no sympathy or fuzzy feelings for them. Better to see them for what they are.

[-] anugeshtu@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago

Roomba: “This living room is HUGE!”

[-] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago

if that would be real i wonder if it would map the entire park

Somewhere out there there is probably someone who made a water resistant charging station with solar power and a roomba that goes and vacuums their tennis court or whatever. Hell they have the solar outdoor chargers for the automated lawnmowers so I'm sure they could modify one of those.

[-] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 22 hours ago

sure it's possible, just the story sounds made up for Internet points

[-] popekingjoe@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

This Roomba:

The Brave Little Roomba went looking for the master.

[-] KurtVonnegut@mander.xyz 10 points 2 days ago

To be honest, nature hasn't had a proper clean-up since like forever. It's about time we sent a couple of roomba's around.

[-] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

You gotta clean your floors, you gotta clean your forests... Many, many years of leaves and broken trees, and they’re like, like, so flammable, you touch them and it goes up.

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Nature has a way of dealing with that from time to time. Several ways, in fact.

[-] KurtVonnegut@mander.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

In fact there are many tiny little automated roomba's roaming around, cleaning up nature as we speak.

And not only are they fully autonomous, they also get their energy by burning the stuff they vacuum up. So you don't even have to charge them!

You'd think that you can only get these crazy little machines by buying into the monopoly of some insane fascist trillionaire, but no! They multiply themselves! You don't have to do anything for it!

We are so lucky.

Detritivores are pretty cool.

[-] homes@piefed.world 29 points 2 days ago

Is it scared of fireworks?

[-] buzz86us@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That damn cat always parks their Roomba here lolz

[-] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 days ago

This is why you microchip your roombas people!

[-] nullify3112@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That’s a scooba. Rare obscure product no one bought. It had a water tank and scrubbed your floor while vacuuming up the dirty water.

[-] THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I remember these. Felt kind of weird putting water into an electric vacuum.

[-] nullify3112@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It was also pretty disgusting to clean. Always a mess of wet gunky hair in the brush and dirty water bin. It sadly didn’t clean super well but was better than not cleaning.

[-] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 days ago

I thought roomba was a type of dance

[-] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago

Nah, that's the rumba. This poor little guy is a rhombus.

[-] Apytele@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

No that's a geometric shape, this is a roomie.

[-] faultyproboscus@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

No, that's a type of person. This is a ruble.

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Nope, that's a currency. This is Rumi

[-] cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 days ago

Nope, that's something I had to google. This is ram

[-] thethunderwolf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

nope, thats computer memory, this is rum

My robot vac likes to imagine that there are ghost dimensions behind my couch instead of walls. Maybe it was right and teleported?

[-] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

One of the touch-and-go? About half a hour battery, bumping into things for navigation, can't be far.

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Hey it just like me

[-] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

my 7 series maps completely via front facing camera, no lidar. It was a bumper so it knows when it's actually touching the thing, but it already knows, it's just donfirmation.
