Conservative Never-Trump attorney turned Democratic congressional candidate George Conway joined a wave of critics arguing French President Emmanuel Macron had trolled President Donald Trump by hosting the signing of his Iran deal at the Palace of Versailles. The palace is the site of the infamous 1919 treaty, which ended World War I and, some historians […]

I prefer to think he was showing him the place where all the gaudy, gold loving, decadent monarchy lived before getting their heads cut off.

Fingers crossed history repeats itself.

Trump is too stupid for that nuance. He literally wants to be that decadent monarch with all that gaudy gold and doesn't worry about the beheading. He's probably just jealous of the building.

Maybe he just wanted to humble Trump with all the goldenness.

It can be two things

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 weeks ago

It's impossible to humble someone with zero humility.

Even the MAGA Twitter account Rapid Response 47 can't spin their way from quoting Trump that doesn't make him sound like an old, tired, doddering idiot.

“Did you sign the MOU?”

“It’s signed, yeah... I signed it in Versailles.”

[-] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, I got that vibe just from the video of him bumbling around on stage after a picture, and I thought it was Macron that pointed him in the right direction.

It's a very specific kind of dickish that I honestly consider an art form. The thing that "bless your heart" southerners try and fail to imitate.

Where you not only pretend to be nice and helpful, but you actually are. It's just everything you do also puts the person in the spotlight and draws attention to their shitty behavior.

I think trolling Trump is something on every world leaders bucketkst after seeing how Iran ended.

Not trolling the US makes you look weak. Trolling the US is insanely easy when you have an demented old man sundowing in the oval office.

[-] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago

Unfortunately Macron is also evil in a whole bunch of ways.

[-] tyo_ukko@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

You could be a bit specific. Now it's hard to tell if you're for real, or some right wing Putin's bitch who just wants to rock the boat.

[-] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 3 weeks ago

Or you know I hate his extremely pro-rich economic policy, his violence against migrants, his extreme islamaphobia, his environmental half measures coming after support for economics, his support for private healthcare, his flip flopping and lackluster support for gender changes, his support for Israel and it's genocide, his support for the conflation of anti-zionism and anti semitism , his suppression against New Caledonia, His largely failed attempts at maintaining French colonialism of West Africa and I could keep going or are you just going to accuse me of being a Russian troll more.

[-] Zier@fedia.io 3 points 3 weeks ago

Macron will never be as evil and fucked up as rapist trump. I hope he trolls trump to his fucking grave.

[-] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 3 weeks ago

Except you know he is still very evil and deserves life in prison for even just his support for the gazan genocide not even getting into his attempts to maintain French colonialism of West Africa, his islamaphobia, his support for privatisation in many fields I could keep going.

[-] hungprocess@piefed.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Let us not forget that both the Conways are complete shitheels.

[-] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago

My wife and I can't believe how they sit on opposite ends of the spectrum politically and seem to get along.

[-] Zier@fedia.io 1 points 3 weeks ago

Pretty sure they are divorced.

Any French person that's been to school can tell you about the treaty of Versailles that was meant to impress the world, and that didn't invite any of the losers.
I've a feeling that's what Macron was going for. That and lots of shiny for the old demented fool. Also it's a ballroom, you know ?

I initially thought they were going for the railcar which indeed would have been top trolling.

In any case it's kinda funny seeing people think they have discovered some hidden meaning to the location choice. Dude, diplomacy is totally about that kinda shit. The only moron who doesn't know it is Trump and his cronies, it seems.

[-] o0evillusion0o@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

I think he's having (another) stroke.

Anyway... On to the TRUMP-EPSTEIN FILES (TM)
