The greatest thing about this scene is that Spiner actually bent a real, solid bar of titanium to show off. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Data: "Bite my dull grey ass!"

Tasha Yar: "I already did, babe ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜"

It's very smooth, too ...

[-] scutiger@lemmy.world 24 points 20 hours ago

I could bend a girder to any angle! 30 degrees, 32 degrees, you name it!

31 degrees...

[-] AnarchoEngineer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 18 hours ago

But I couldnโ€™t go on living after I heard what the girders were for

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 13 points 17 hours ago

Making suicide booths.

That would make Lore Flexo. But Flexo is not the evil twin sooooo

Wait, which one had the mustache for realsies? I saw them in the closet and I forget which one had it before and after they made out but well you get the idea.

This scene always low-key bugged me because Data obviously hands the bar back to Riker in that awkward double handed manner specifically so the cheap prop they're using doesn't spring back out.

[-] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 18 points 20 hours ago

It would also be a cool subversion to have Data say he was designed to be human and doesn't have super human strength. Or the motors for micro control are tuned for precision and not torque. Anything to undermine the trope that robots are superior to humans in every way.

Also, that metal would be rather hot from undergoing that much tension in such short a time.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

Nah these girders are the same material they use for the self-sealing stem bolts.

[-] swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 22 hours ago

I'm gonna make my own Data! With blackjack! And hookers!

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 13 points 21 hours ago

Data Rodriguez Soong

[-] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 12 points 22 hours ago

I'm convinced. Can't be sentient life if it can bend things.

[-] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 11 points 22 hours ago

Still can't beat Bender's stretchy arms.
