Listen, I'm not going to respond to what you're saying about imperialism, or even act like we're in the same room speaking together. But have you considered that the empire's aims are good?

The definition of modern "centre-left"/"social democratic" politics. Call yourself a leftist, use the colour red a lot, claim to feel an affinity for the working class, claim to believe in democracy and human rights.
But fundamentally you still support the power structures which uphold capitalism and western hegemony. Case in point, NATO.
This way you can claim all the social prestige that comes with labelling yourself as a leftist lover of peace, equality, and fairness without having to actually commit to anything too radical which makes you uncomfortable.
It's plastic socialism. Legitimate socialist politics do not demand support for NATO.
