The lightning risk though
I was at Action Park (aka Traction Park) when I was young and it was lightly raining. The temp was warm enough that it didn't really bother us. There was no line for most of the attractions. It was incredible.
I had been there many times and amazingly, no one I know was injured at there.
Ah yes, Class-Action park. The water loop had teeth bits embedded in it for the short time it operated.
I believe a may have done the tube. I remember exiting some ride and the exit was about 10 feet above some of the coldest water. Shockingly cold. Fairly certain it was that tube.
I get the joke but being wet without sun isn't the same
I love swimming at night.
In a pool though. Not the ocean that shit is scary at night
Pool lights were my favorite as a kid, but we had to wait until way after bedtime to not get eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Also swimming in a pool in the rain is really fun. Especially if the pool water is warmer than the rain. If feels like jumping into the bath when it’s like that and you get to watch the rain drops on the water from underneath.
Also lightning, and muddy grounds
Yeah rain is usually cold. Plus it gets all your stuff wet.
As a once upon a time lifeguard, it's so very often the opposite. I once had a mother screaming at me because we wouldn't let her and the kids in, while lightning literally was popping off during her rant.
To be fair, I've risked it before. I've never heard of anyone actually dying from swimming and lightning striking. If it's actually possible, the odds are low. Meanwhile, we choose to drive several tons of steel at 70mph every day, and people die from it constantly. Lightning striking while I'm swimming is not a large concern of mine.
Aye, but how likely is it that someone is going to be swimming while lightning is playing in the sky? Also, it's not just about you, but also the poor skinny teenager who has to be sitting on top of a very lovely little metal structure that's elevated above the terrain.
Yeah, for sure there shouldn't be lifeguards. I'm OK with taking the risk for myself on occasion though, but I don't want others to take a risk because I chose to.
I'm a eagle scout and did lifeguard training. I feel fairly confident in my own ability in the water that I don't need a lifeguard watching if I'm alone (or close to alone). I'm comfortable with that level of risk. It's up for each person to decide for themselves though, and shouldn't be forced on others. We take pretty significant risks every day that most ignore, and I'm just more aware of that than most I think, which makes me more comfortable with minor risks.
It all depends on conditions. If there's lightning, it's time to get out. If the rain is riding on cold air, probably gonna get out, cold water isn't fun. Warm rain with no lightning, who cares keep swimming. Also, windy conditions (which often accompany rain) while at the ocean can cause strong waves and riptides, that might warrant caution or getting out.
Rain Water? 🤮 Chlorinated water that a bunch of other people have been in? 😍
You misspelled 'peed' there
Only if you can smell the chlorine
Fun fact: if you can smell the chloramines at a indoor pool, then their ventilation isn't good enough, or their pool isn't being operated correctly
Same with rain while in the water at the beach. Technically fine (as long as it’s not an actual storm/typhoon/hurricane), but it gets dark and eerie especially when you’re alone in the water.
You're not alone in the water. It's a very big water.
Water from the gods?!?
Disgusting.
On a recent vacation, my GF & I stayed in the pool as it rained. Two other couples exited. Silly. It was a nice, tropical rain and the animals made a lot of noise during the rain.
