So glad these clowns took the high road and didn't push to prosecute a fucking insurrection. So glad the FBI was complicit in these honey pots with epstein and that they didn't push to prosecute or leak anything while the orange clown was running for POTUS.

Really, top tier work sticking to your principles at the cost of our fragile democracy.

[-] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 112 points 5 days ago

The president is committing war crimes and the FBI is charging the former FBI director over an insta post from a year ago, clearly suggesting impeachment.

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 31 points 5 days ago

seems like a direct violation of his first amendment rights.

unless he comes out and says what it means, it's subjective art that is up to interpretation.

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

true but even if you say “i think x should die” you’re still within your rights. none of “thinking” is actionable.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 21 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

So the DOJ is hoping that nobody on the jury knows that 86 means to give someone the bum's rush, not to kill them.

Even then, if it were a threat, which it isn't, it's in no way actionable.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 13 points 4 days ago

This will never reach the jury. There won't even be a Day 2. The judge will toss this immediately.

From the headline, I was imagining that he had used broken seashells to physically threaten Trump.

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 days ago

"86" just means to toss them out of the establishment (like restaurant or whitehouse). If it was "187 47" then there might be something to bite into, otherwise it's just a nothing burger only existing for the further distraction from the trump/epstein files and the realization that your dear leader is nothing more than a self-serving pedophile.

And they’re only getting to this now because they were spending time going after all of those rednecks with the lifelike “Biden tied up in the back of my truck” tailgate stickers, right?

[-] VinegarChunks@lemmus.org 3 points 3 days ago

I’ve seen that, plus a couple bumper stickers saying “FUCK Joe and the Hoe” where FUCK is spelled out jn the silhouette of rifles and handguns.

[-] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

No? You’re allowed to do that from a legal perspective, if everyone hates you or you lose your job or something that’s just social repercussions but the federal government isn’t pursuing legal charges over it.

[-] TrollTrollrolllol@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Seems like an overt threat to kidnap a President, certainly more overt than four fucking numbers.

This gets laughed out of court, right? Right?

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 64 points 5 days ago

Yes, but it is intended as harassment, not "justice".

He still needs a lawyer, he can't just ignore it.

[-] village604@adultswim.fan 14 points 5 days ago

If nothing else than for the fact that Trump and friends made public statements condemning him. Can't really have an impartial jury after that

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 7 points 4 days ago

Absolutely, it's obviously a desperation Hail Mary play, but not before Comey spends several thousand dollars on lawyers, after spending a whole lot to defend himself the last time.

Perhaps there is a family strategy at play. His daughter was fired as a Federal prosecutor, after working on high profile cases like Epstein. She is now sueing the DoJ, and will probably win, so maybe she can use some of that government money to cover her Dad's legal bills.

He should also sue for malicious prosecution.

[-] aramis87@fedia.io 31 points 5 days ago

Some seashells laid out in 86 47.

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago

jfc, it took me wayyyyy to long to figure it was just like.. "kick out '47".

I thought it was some crazy complicated code. No. Just 86.

Aww fuck it; they’re coming for anyone speaking ill of the orange fat fucking turd shitstain now.

And I stand by that assessment.

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 13 points 4 days ago

To me, this is the guy that did a dirty to Hillary a week before her election with trump, but now he's trump's enemy?

[-] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 10 points 4 days ago

He "seemed" to pretty quickly regret whatever role he might have played in trump winning. Comey was always trying to maintain a low profile after trump got sworn in and didn't really try to buddy up to him or take advantage of it like one would expect.

[-] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

What effing judge signed that warrant???

[-] TrollTrollrolllol@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Don't need a judge for an 'administrative' warrant, haven't you been paying attention?

[-] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

In the US, the government cannot use an administrative warrant to enforce a Criminal law

[-] SystemQ@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

This is the US, rules for thee, not for me.

[-] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Only if we stand for it

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago

And a judge ok’d this warrant?

[-] sundray@lemmus.org 21 points 5 days ago

There’s an old saying about grand juries that also applies to a great many judges: They would indict a ham sandwich if the DA asked them to.

[-] CaptainSpaceman@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

Theyd indict a ham sandwich, but not a ham sandwich TOSSER!

8647 should become a popular T-shirt. Pretty hard to convict one person for something that is widespread in the popular culture.

[-] 4grams@awful.systems 14 points 4 days ago

I have an 86 45 shirt I used to wear during the first term. When the comey bullshit first hit the news, my father called me and told me how I shouldn’t wear violent messages, told me that I’d better watch my back if I wore something like that again. I hung up and ordered an 86 47 shirt. Wearing it today in fact.

It's already an incredibly popular sign at every No Kings protest or just random local protests in general.

Even if it was just Comey who did it, this doesn't constitute a direct or actionable threat. 86 is kitchen jargon to get rid of something, and one interpretation of that could be to kill, but another could be to get rid of him using the legal channels already in place (impeachment, invoking 25th amendment, etc.).

This indictment has no legs and will get tossed out before any competent judge.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 20 points 5 days ago

Wow, distraction time again, since this happened more than a year ago.

  • "I'm not a pedophile"
  • "My beautiful ballroom"
  • Convicted rapist
  • Mentioned over a thousand times in the released Epstein files. I bet none of us are

[-] Quexotic@infosec.pub 9 points 4 days ago

There needs to be a loud campaign educating people on jury nullification.
