Sadly I have not whipped a llama's ass in quite a while.

[-] saltesc@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

Couple's therapy could work.

[-] xkbx@startrek.website 8 points 1 week ago

I’ve wiped one

If you want a more modern software with the Winamp feel, the Audacious player supports Winamp skins.

[-] turbowafflz@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Qmmp as well

[-] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Vlc also has some ports and lookalikes of winamp skins

I'd totally rock a real physical winamp as a mp3 player.

[-] sapetoku@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Just gave me an idea for a 3D-printed media player. Thx :)

Hell yeah, just give it Bluetooth, a headphone jack, and USB-C, for data transfer and loading.

I still kick on the HTML5 port Webamp every now and then. It's a relic of a time when we tried to make apps look like their equivalent home electronics.

[-] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 week ago

That.... Is a lot of skins...

[-] tomenzgg@midwest.social 14 points 1 week ago

Tagline of my future taxidermy shop.

[-] SharkWeek@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Not as good as

Joe's Taxidermy - you snuff 'em we stuff 'em

[-] tomenzgg@midwest.social 4 points 1 week ago

True…; hard to argue with that.

I will keep using it as long as it keeps whipping the llama’s ass.

I hear tell that it really whips the llama's ass.

[-] _thebrain_@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I always preferred NAD as an mp3 player. I loved the see through hole in the default skin.

Plus the dev would get stoned out of his gourd on mushrooms and it helped him create a very efficient mp3 decoder. It always has a lower CPU usage than anything else out there, and imo sounded crisper.

Foobar2000 has been working on Linux compatibility, mostly using Wine. At least if you're after Milkdrop visualization compatibility.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 week ago

Working on? I run it on my Linux box. I saved the last installer before it got sold off a million years ago. Love it still.

I absolutely love Foobar2000, and one of the biggest reasons is the plugins that allow it to play lots of different chiptune formats. Also I love that its UI is practical and doesn't get in my way.

[-] uawarebrah@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago

Came in here to make a llama ass whipping post but I can see I was beaten after .000001 seconds of the post being up :(

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 10 points 1 week ago

I still use Winamp on my computer. Tho I wish I could hook it up to stream from my Spotify account so I had more music without using my entire ssd.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I keep thinking about taking an old phone, replacing the battery (because they were easy to do) and turning it into an mp3 player. Only problem is I want a few buttons.

[-] j_elgato@leminal.space 9 points 1 week ago

The planes are gone from the skies. The soldiers are no longer looking for you...

You don't need to live like this anymore.

[-] Jarix@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This may be a dumb question but is there some reason you can't just use Winamp these days?

https://getwacup.com/

It supports the old skins, and the portable install is neat on a usb stick.

[-] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 7 points 1 week ago

meh, closed-source Windows-only software, gross

Try Strawberry instead.

[-] CaptainHowdy@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 week ago

Theres also audacious, it runs on Linux and supports winamp skins.

[-] Dagamant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It does? I’ve never seen that. Been using it forever and never thought to look at skin options

[-] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

How do you use Winamp skins in Strawberry?

I miss those days

[-] TallonMetroid@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

I was until I switched to Linux last year. But I had issues getting Winamp to run properly via wine, and none of the native Linux successors I found handled Winamp skins the way I wanted them to, so sadly I was forced to find a different music player.

[-] MunkyNutts@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

While it doesn't support skins, I don't think, Fooyin has a similar feel to Winamp that I was accustomed too, it was my main music player before switching to Linux.

My library outgrew it. Did nobody else start having memory issues when your storage started getting up there?

kodi has milkdrop

[-] GarboDog@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

We have Audacious running with WinAmp window style with a bunch of custom skins. It’s really nice

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Aimp, which looks pretty damn close

[-] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

OG winamp 5 from my cold dead hands, not this resurrected shambling corporate corpse

Hello

Fediverse!

Share your vaporwave music, videos, and aesthetic art. All in one place!

Before you start posting and interacting, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with general community guidelines to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.

  1. Follow the Lemmy Rules: The Lemmy rules apply in addition to our community specific guidelines. See link or image below:

  2. Self-Promotion Guidelines: Self-promotion is welcome, but within reason. Multiple posts are allowed since we are just starting out, but keep it interesting and unique!

  3. Sourcing and Credit: Please provide proper credit and sources for any music/videos you post if possible. It isn't necessarily required to post here, but it definitely helps people find songs that may be hard to search up.

  4. Discussion and Critique: Engage in meaningful discussions and critique, but keep it constructive. Use common sense!

  5. NSFW Content: Pornography is not allowed. Keep in mind there are some ballsy users who may browse Lemmy in public spaces without NSFW filters. Try to label and tag NSFW content appropriately and avoid explicit or overly offensive material.

  6. Sensible Titles: Use coherent and descriptive titles for your posts when possible. Since vaporwave has many stylized fonts and text, we are pretty relaxed about this. Just don't add things such as links/adverts in the title.

  7. Relevant Content Only: This should be obvious, but please avoid posts that are unrelated to vaporwave. We really don't want to remove posts unless it's something like spam.

  8. Have Fun! Federated sites have much more freedom for users. You should be able to post without worrying about it being removed immediately over thousands of arbitrary rules. We want users to feel at home! Memes about vaporwave are allowed.

We are still new like most people that are migrating from Reddit. There's going to be some growing pains along the way and it's also going to take time for everyone to get used to things. Be patient!

Remember, the Vaporwave Lemmy Community is a place to celebrate and discuss this unique and captivating aesthetic and music. Enjoy your time here!
